Chapter 2
Chapter 2
The rain stopped when Astrid arrived at the Peak Villa on the top of a hill in Cheston City. She got out of the sports car with joy. She was walking perfectly and didn't look like a cripple. She had left her past behind, including all the pain and tears, and started afresh.
"Boss!" All her men welcomed her when they saw her return.
Astrid glanced at the people in front of her and nodded in satisfaction.
"Boss, we've missed you!" Her assistant, Eddy Smith, ran up to her. He was the only person who knew about her marriage.
Astrid gave Eddy a big hug. "I missed you too, but I'm back now."
After greeting her men, Astrid came to her office and showed a bright smile. She felt so good to be at home.
After the welcoming, Astrid went to her office and a bright smile appeared on her face.
“Home sweet home,” she thought.
Astrid placed the laptop on the table and turned it on. She then hacked into the surveillance system of Moon Lakes. When it was confirmed that the data had been permanently erased, she breathed a sigh of relief.
"What happened last night and for the past couple of years felt like a dream. Goodbye, Blaze.
We probably won't see each other again!" Astrid said inwardly.
“Astrid, are you you've gotten over that Blaze guy?"
"Do I look like I'm joking?" Astrid was in a really good mood now that she had regained her freedom after three years of suffering.
“That's great.” Eddy didn't expect Astrid to get divorced as fast as she got married.
"Is there anything wrong?"
"Of course not. But is Blaze really willing to let you go?"
"Our marriage was just a deal. Now, the deal has come to an end."
As Astrid's assistant, Eddy knew why she married into the Cohen family.
Blaze was very powerful and not easy to get along with. Eddy felt happy that his boss finally left the devilish man.
"How about we have a party tonight? We received a batch of red wine yesterday. | bet you're going to like it."
“Not really." Astrid didn't feel like drinking. The reason that she slept with Blaze last night was because she had too much to drink.
"Give me all the recent schedules of recent events."
"Sure thing. The 20th-anniversary show of the Unique Beauty Company will be held at the Lapper Hotel tomorrow night. The organizer hopes that you can attend the curtain call as the main designer."
Astrid took the document from Eddy and glanced at her schedule. She even had schedules for events that were going to happen the following year.
She was taken aback at first but soon cheered up after thinking about the amount of money she was going to receive.
“When will it start?"
“At seven oclock. Are you going?"
"How about you go with me?"
"Sure, that'll be great!"
Before Eddy met Astrid, he was a hypocrite and indulged in hooking up with girls.
During the past few years that Astrid was married into the Cohen family, he was in charge of Astrid’s business and was one of her right-hand men.
"Only if you could see yourself right now!"
Eddy was tall and burly, but he clapped his hands happily like a child.
“Here are the earnings of the stocks that were sold under your instructions."
Astrid took a look and found that everything had turned out as she had expected. The fluctuation of the stocks was unusual. The early gains were just tricks of the Clark family.
Fortunately, she bought the stocks when it was at a low price and sold them when the prices were high without any hesitation.
"Not bad."
“Astrid, you really know how to plan ahead."
Eddy didn't expect to make so much money from such a stock, but Astrid sounded like she had been expecting this.
She could earn hundreds of millions of dollars from stocks and shares, which was a great fortune.
Eddy had a glib tongue and was very good at flirting with girls and flattering others.
What was more, he was a big fan of Astrid's. He used to be the Bezel Group's CEO, but now, he just wanted to work for Astrid.
“Alright. Don't flatter me."
Astrid glanced at Eddy and gestured for him to stop.
“Astrid, you're a really attractive woman. Why does Blaze not have any feelings for you? Is he not interested in women?"
“What? Alright, let's not go there."
Blaze was a perfectly straight man. Astrid felt her legs were still sore after the wild experience last night.
“I'm just curious."
“Shut up. Don't you know that curiosity kills a cat?"
Astrid threw the documents back to Eddy and went upstairs. She was going to make preparations to welcome her new life.Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
