Chapter 26
Chapter 26
Gisele grabbed Angie’s hand to stop her from storming out of the room, but Angie sprinted out with no intention of stopping.
Bernard stood towering at the door to block Dorian and Sierra from going in. No matter
what Dorian said to him, he didn’t budge.
“Bernard Murray, you were the one who called me and told me to visit Gisele. Why are you stopping us from seeing her when we’re here?” Dorian confronted Bernard.
“Don.” Sierra gently took Dorian’s arm and coyly shook her head at him.
Then, she flashed a sweet smile at Bernard. She explained, “Mr. Murray, I’m technically Gisele’s colleague and friend. After that shocking incident, the least I could do is visit her and offer help if she needs it.”
“Do you really think we don’t know that you’re here to gloat at her?” Angie shoved Bernard’s arm out of the way and went up to glare at Sierra.
As she was slightly taller than Sierra, she stared down at the latter.
Sierra, who had been in shock after Angie had popped out of the room without warning, stumbled backward into Dorian’s arms. She trembled like a deer in the headlights as she teared up.
Dorian gently held her waist. Looking up, he addressed Angie indifferently, “Are you trying to speak up for Gisele? That woman’s not worth it. She’s willing to sacrifice her reputation for money.”
Angie chuckled in anger. She couldn’t believe that Gisele had given her heart to such a bastard for three years. Every time he mentioned Gisele, he put on a disdainful expression,
as if her name were filth.
Bernard stood stoically behind Angie, who folded her arms across her chest. She was at his shoulder level when she stood. Incensed, she seemed ready to punch Dorian at any time.
“I thought the rich were well–mannered. Even an animal learns to behave after it is domesticated and tamed. You act like a gentleman when, deep down, you’re a savage!” Angie taunted Dorian assertively, calmly directing a barrage of harsh insults at him with her arms folded.
Narrowing her eyes, she continued, “An apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. No matter where you were raised, you would grow up to be a jerk.

“Have you forgotten about your roots after a few years of living in wealth? Dorian Jefferson, do I think no one knows about the devious acts you committed in the past?”

Then, she followed up by rattling off examples. She couldn’t tolerate Dorian hurling insults
at Gisele.
Gisele might have been able to endure the humiliation because she was in love with Dorian, but Angie was different.
Bernard watched Angie launch the verbal attacks with a look of admiration. Her voice sounded like heavenly music to his ears at that moment.
Dorian’s expression crumbled as he fixed a piercing gaze on Angie. He instinctively tightened his grip on Sierra’s waist. NôvelDrama.Org owns all © content.
No one had ever treated him with such impudence since he had taken the reins of Jefferson Group after becoming an adult.
Sierra’s heart sank. She hunched and said in a teary voice, “Ms. Abbott, you could have communicated nicely if Dorian offended you. You shouldn’t have insulted him!”
Dorian was stunned by Sierra, who had come to his defense with vulnerable yet firm behavior. He watched her stand in front of him, shielding him.
In a daze, he was transported back to his time at the orphanage. Back in the day, he had been regularly bullied by the older kids at the orphanage due to his good looks.
But one day, a young girl had bravely shielded him with her fragile shoulders. She had been his ray of sunshine.
The image of Sierra overlapped with the memory of the girl in his mind. Still, a question lingered. He had been plagued by it for a while, but he had never brought it up.
Lying in bed, Gisele was separated from the crowd at the door by a wall. From her angle, all she could see was Bernard’s wide back.
She smiled bitterly at Dorian’s and Sierra’s hypocrisy.
