Daisy's Code Novel by Amelia Bennett

Chapter 28

Lance stretched out his hand toward Daisy, and without even thinking, she placed hers on top of his. It felt so natural as if they had done this a million times before.

“Are you asking me to **p class?” Daisy said, getting up from her chair to stand beside him.

Lance grinned mysteriously. “That’s a secret.”

With Lance leading the way, they ended up at a low wall on campus. It was easy to climb over, especially for them. This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.

“Want to give it a shot?” Lance asked, bouncing on his feet, clearly eager for this moment,

Not bothering to respond, Daisy stepped right up onto the wall, shooting him a daring look before jumping down.

Lance chuckled softly as he watched her. It made him happy to see her so full of life. Glancing at the wall one more time, he jumped over with ease.

When Daisy saw Lance land effortlessly beside her, she nodded in approval. “Have you been trained for this?”

Yeah, I practice boxing and parkour. He never tried to hide anything from her when she asked.

After that, they fell into a comfortable silence as they drove to a workshop that looked very professional.

Lance walked in like he owned the place, exchanging friendly greetings with the staff. Then he pushed open a door leading to an office filled with precious materials-pearls, diamonds, agales, and emeralds.

“What is this place?” Daisy asked, confusion crossing her face as she glanced at Lance.

Lance smiled mysteriously and grabbed a work shirt off the wall. After putting it on, he noticed Daisy staring at him in awe and playfully tapped her forehead. “What are you sp**ng out for? Help me tie this in the back.”

“Uh, okay,” Daisy replied, shaking off her daze as she helped him tie it. “Wait, you’re going to fix my bracelet? Can you really do that?”

Just then, a sharply dressed foreign man walked in with a booming laugh. “Mr. Lindsey, I never expected your capability to be questioned one day.”

Lance turned to hifn, smirking. “Try me, Charlie, and you’ll know my strength.”

Daisy caught the mischievous tone in Lance’s voice and felt her cheeks heat up. The conversation seemed a bit off, and she couldn’t help but eye the two of them suspiciously.

Charlie met her gaze and quickly caught on. “No, young lady. You’ve totally misunderstood. Mr. Lindsey was just talking about sparring. Don’t get the wrong idea. Our relationship is pure,” he chuckled, his smile playful. Having met many people, he could read her confusion like a book.

Lance raised an eyebrow, surprised. “Seems like you’re not so innocent, after all, he teased, leaning closer to Daisy’s ear and lowering his voice.

Instinct took over. As soon as Lance got close, Daisy swung a punch. Luckily, he dodged just in time. If he hadn’t, she would’ve hit him square in the face.

“Is that how you treat someone who helps you?” he asked, looking at her wide-eyed. He held her wrist firmly, feeling how Helicate it was, like he could break it easily with a single twist.

Daisy blushed and forced a smile. “Sorry! It was just a reflex.”

But inside, she felt a little weird. The last time someone leaned in like that, she found it super annoying and had given that person a piece of her mind. Yet with Lance, she didn’t feel bothered at all.

Thinking about it, she sneaked a glance at his handsome face, and suddenly, she was thinking maybe it was his looks that made it different.

Just then, Charlie chimed in, “As fun as it is to watch you two flirt, don’t forget about me, the lonely guy over here.”

“You two really look like a perfect match,” he continued, “just like they say, a match made in heaven! Right, Mr. Lindsey?” “Absolutely!” Lance chuckled, turning to Daisy. “Daisy, this is Charlie, the owner of the studio and my good friend.”

He then added, looking at Charlie with a mischievous grin, “This is Daisy, my… friend.” He emphasized the word “friend,” trying to give Charlie a hint.

Charlie’s eyebrows raised in understanding. “You two are definitely a good match.” Just then, a knock came at the office door. “Boss, we’ve got a customer,” a voice called from outside.

Charlie sighed, a hint of regret on his face. “Sorry, I’ve got work to do. Daisy, you can totally trust Lance, If he says something can’t be fixed, then it really can’t. Have fun, you two. Let’s catch up later, Mr. Lindsey.”

“Sure thing,” said Lance.

Charlie nodded and slipped out of the office.

“Just hang on a second. I’ll help you fix it,” Lance said, stepping over to his own workbench. He examined the bracelet in his hands, thinking hard about the best way to repair it.

Daisy was still trying to shake off her shock. She watched Lance as he focused on his task, noting how he carried himself with a royal air. “Who is he? What kind of person is he really?’ she pondered.

As Lance worked on the bracelet, the school day moved on without a hitch. Coincidentally, Sherry, who taught one of the main subjects and also led the class, was doing her usual rounds.

When she entered the classroom, Sherry looked toward Daisy’s empty seat and frowned.

“Bennett, where’s Daisy? When did she leave?” Her voice was icy, her gaze sharp, as if she was transferring her frustration about Daisy onto him.

Bennett straightened up nervously in his chair. “Ms. Levine, Daisy left after the first period and hasn’t come back.”

Sherry’s expression twisted into a scowl. “Laura, do you know where Daisy is?” she snapped, hoping Daisy’s sister would know something.
