Chapter 111
I was sitting on the steps, my head in my hands, crying uncontrollably. Aston came out and knelt down beside me, his voice soft and gentle.
“Hey, Kira, what’s wrong? Why are you crying?” hearing those words from him threatened to spark the anger in me that I was keeping from exploding. How could the problem be asking me what the problem was?
I shook my head, unable to speak because I was scared of what would come out of my mouth. Aston put his arm around me and pulled me close.
“Come on, Kira, tell me what’s going on. I’m right here.” He said as nicely as I knew he could possibly get. I realized that he was the problem but he was also the solution.
I took a deep breath and looked up at him “I just feel so lost, Aston. I don’t know what I’m doing with my life. I feel like I’m just drifting along without any purpose.”
I sniffled and wiped my nose on my sleeve while Aston just stared me like he was looking past me. What was I expecting?
Aston stood up and held out his hand. “Come on, Kira. Let’s go inside.” He said and I wondered if he heard what I just said.
“Let’s go, Kira. No one has it all figured out yet, especially not you.” He said and I was not sure how that was supposed to be comforting but it was more than I was expecting.
I hesitated for a moment, then took his hand and let him pull me up. We walked inside,
As we entered the grand ballroom, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of awe at the beauty that surrounded us. I hadn’t really taken my time to look at it before, I was busy getting lashed at.
The chandeliers sparkled like diamonds, and the music was like a gentle breeze on a summer day. Aston took my hand, and 1 felt a surge of electricity run through my body. His touch was like touching naked wires.
“Shall we dance?” he asked, his eyes sparkling with mischief. His gaze was like a magnet, drawing me in and holding me
captive.
I nodded, my heart racing with excitement. Aston led me onto the dance floor, his hand guiding mine like a gentleman that I knew too well he wasn’t. The music was a slow, sultry melody that seemed to match the beat of my heart. Aston’s arms wrapped around me, pulling me close, and I felt like I was melting into his embrace. He held me like it was just the two of us in the room.
As we danced, I couldn’t help but notice the stares of the other guests.
They were all looking at us, their eyes wide with wonder. I felt like a princess in a fairy tale, with Aston as my prince charming Because I knew they were all wondering who it was that was lucky enough to be dancing with Aston even though I was feeling anything but lucky.
The way he moved with grace and precision, his eyes locked on mine, made me feel like I was the only woman in the world but I would be stupid to let myself get carried away by all of it. I knew it was just for show but part of me still wanted to get carried away, to get lost in whatever it was that Aston was doing to me© NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
“You’re a natural,” Aston whispered in my ear, his breath sending shivers down my spine. His words were like witchcraft, making me feel like I was floating on air.
“I’m just following your lead.” I replied, my voice barely above a whisper. I was afraid to break the spell that had been cast, afraid to shatter the illusion that we were alone in this grand ballroom.
Aston chuckled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. “You’re doing just fine on
your
own,” he said. “You’re a beautiful dancer.
Kira.

I blushed, feeling a little shy all if a sudden.
Π
“You’re an amazing dancer,” I said, looking up at him with admiration. I was amazed by his skill, of the way he seemed to glide across the dance floor with so much ease. I knew he had been doing it for years, he had probably attended millions of events like this one so it wasn’t his first rodeo but it didn’t make it any less amazing.
We danced for what felt like hours, lost in the music and my own thoughts.
a surge of
As the music finally came to an end, Aston bowed low over my hand, his lips brushing against my skin. I felt electricity run through my body, and I knew that I was in trouble. The things Aston were making me feel by just simple and completely innocent touches were dangerous.
I walked into the bathroom, relieved to finally have a moment to myself. But as I approached the sink, I saw her – Laura,” Dax’s mate. She looked like she was seething, her eyes narrowed and her lips pursed. I tried to avoid eye contact, hoping to slip in and out without any trouble. But Laura wasn’t having it.
“Well, well, well. Look what we have here,” she sneered, her voice dripping with venom. “The little whore herself.”
I felt a surge of annoyance, my heart racing as I tried to stay calm. “Laura, I don’t want any trouble,” I said, trying to keep my
voice even
But Laura wasn’t interested in peace. “Trouble?” she spat. “You’re the one who’s always causing trouble, Kira. You’re always in our faces, even when you’re not with us. You’ve bewitched everyone in Dax’s pack to not stop talking about you. People always mention your name when they mention my husband’s. Why are you so hard to get rid of?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, Laura, 1 answered, trying to stay calm. I had no idea what nonsense she was spewing and I honestly had no interest in it either.
But Laura just laughed, a cold, mirthless sound. “Don’t play dumb with me, Kira. I know all about your little games. You think you’re so clever, but you’re just a pain in the a**** I know you’re doing everything possible to steal Dax from me but I promise you that I’m going to make sure you don’t succeed”. The last thing I wanted was to get Dax back. I knew she was just projecting her insecurities but it didn’t change the fact that I wanted to give her a hot slap,
“I want nothing to do with you and your man, got it?” I made myself clear but Laura just kept going, her words getting more and more vicious. “You’re a *e, Kira. A cheap, trashy little w***e. And you’ll never be good enough for Aston, no matter how hard you try.
I was really doing my best to keep myself under control, I kept clenching and unclenching my fists. “I’m not going to engage with you, Laura,” I said, my voice firm. “So you can just leave me alone.”
But Laura just laughed again, her eyes glinting with malice. “Oh, I’m not going anywhere, Kira. I’m going to make sure that you pay for what you’ve done. You’re going to regret the day you ever crossed me.
I was about to leave the bathroom, avoid any trouble with this b***h. But then, without warning, she reached out and grabbed my arm, pulling me back. I tried to shake her off, but she held tight, her eyes blazing with anger.
“You think you can just walk away from me?” she spat, her voice low and menacing. “You think you can just ignore me and walk away?”
I tried to stay calm, but my temper was rising. “Let me go, Laura I warned, trying to keep my voice even. “I don’t fight with you
want to
But she just laughed. And then, without warning, she slapped me across the face. The sound echoed through the bathroom. and I felt a surge of anger and pain.
My temper snapped, and I lost all control. My lists flew, hitting her again and again. I kicked her until she was lying on the bathroom floor caging her between my thighs as I continued to pummel her.
But then, just as suddenly as it had started, everything stopped. People were rushing into the bathroom thanks to her screaming like wild animal, pulling me off of Laura as she lay there, crying and acting like the innocent victim She wasn’t.
“Kira, stop! What are you doing?” someone shouted, pulling me back.
I was breathing hard, my heart racing with anger and adrenaline. But as I looked down at Laura, I saw the fake tears streaming down her face, and my anger boiled over again.
“She started it!” I shouted, pointing at Laura. “She slapped me first!” I screamed but it was no use because I wasn’t the one that was on the floor with tears streaming down my face.
“She just came on to me and started to hit me because I told her she couldn’t have Dax back.” She lied and I couldn’t hold it in. I slapped her hard across the face and it sent her flying right back to the ground.
