Chapter 20
The two men in suits stared At each other with confused looks on their faces.
“Why does this kid look so much like Mr. CEO, Brandon Colby?” the man thought as they stared at the kids.
“What are you both staring at? Answer the question!” Jasper said as he stepped forward and both men gave each other a weird look.
“Who is at the door, Jayden? I thought I asked you guys to wait for me in the car” Hannah said as she climbed down the stairs, and walked towards the door, and to her surprise, she saw two men in suits staring at her kids.
“Hello, how may I help you both?” Hannah asked and the men raised their heads and stared at Hannah.
“Are you Mrs. Mackenzie?” One of the men asked
“Yes, I am,” Hannah replied politely.
“She’s beautiful, no wonder Brandon wants to marry her,” the men thought as they stared at Hannah.
“I’m David Black and this is my partner, Leo Martin,” The man said and Hannah nodded, waiting for him to continue.Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
“We were both sent by Brandon Colby. We brought the marri…….”
“Oh, yes…” Hannah said, cutting the man off immediately. She’s not told her kids about the marriage yet, she didn’t want them to hear it from a total stranger.
“Kids, go wait for me in the car while I attend to them,” Hannah said and the kids nodded obediently. They gave both men some weird looks before walking away.
They stood outside the car watching Hannah and the men talk. Hannah who noticed her kids staring at them from afar smiled inwardly. They were watching like bodyguards and if anything went wrong, they were ready to beat the hell out of those men.
“I was on my way, taking my kids to school, I don’t want them to be late,” Hannah said
“Oh, it’s fine. We can come back tomorrow or probably, later in the day” the lawyers said
“No, I can sign the papers now before leaving,” Hannah said and the lawyers nodded as they brought out a file from their bag.
They gave it to Hannah.
“Sign here, here, and here,” the lawyer said as he gave her a pen and Hannah nodded in response. She signed everything without reading what was on the paper.
After Hannah finished signing the papers, she smiled at them.
“Thank you for your time, Mrs. Mackenzie. We will be on our way now” The lawyer said and Hannah nodded in response.
She watched them walk away and hopped into their car and zoomed off. Immediately they left, and the kids entered the car.
Hannah walked towards her car and hopped in.
“Mommy, who are those men?” Jayden asked
“And who is Brandon Colby?” Jasper asked
“What papers did you sign mommy?” Allison asked and Hannah swallowed hard.
“They look like lawyers to me,” Audrey said
“It’s business. Work-related and nothing more. And those men are lawyers, and Brandon Colby is just a business partner ” Hannah said and swallowed hard.
“No more questions. We need to get to school, you’ll don’t want to be late ” Hannah said and the kids nodded in response.
“Why do I feel like mommy is lying..” Addison whispered.
“I heard that” Hannah voiced as she stared at the kids from the rare mirror.
********
Hannah parked her car outside the school compound, the kids alighted the car and waved to her.
She waved them in return as she watched them walk inside the school compound. When they were out of sight, she ignited the engine and zoomed off.
Her car screeched to a halt inside her mansion. She alighted the car and walked inside the house. She climbed upstairs to her room and sat on her bed.
Just then she heard her phone ring, she picked up her phone to check the caller’s ID and to her surprise it was a call from an unknown number.
She answered the phone call and a familiar voice echoed from the phone.
“Brandon!” Hannah voiced out lowly and sighed, she wondered why he was calling her.
“You’ve signed the papers already,” Brandon said and Hannah hummed.
“My PA will be coming to help you pack your things tomorrow. You’ll be moving into my Mansion ” Brandon said
“What? Tomorrow?” Hannah asked surprised and Brandon frowned.
“Why are you acting surprised? Didn’t I tell you the last time we met that you would be moving in with me?” Brandon said angrily.
“Yeah, you told me. It’s just that I haven’t told my kids about me getting married to a total stranger. I need to let them know we are moving out and I’m getting married. Why do we even need to live together? Is it necessary?” Hannah said and Brandon scoffed.
“I need you to stay near me so I can watch you, what if you decide to run away besides What’s there to tell them about and why do you sound excited that you are getting married to me? It’s not like it’s your first marriage” Brandon said and Hannah paused for a second wondering if he knew about him and Jeff.
“What are you talking about?” Hannah asked
“You are so dumb. The father of your kids, weren’t you married to him before? I’m sure you divorced him because that’s what women do. They divorce men even when they know the man loves them deeply” Brandon said like he was angry.
“What the hell are you talking about? What do you know about the father of my kids and how dare you to say shit without knowing anything about me.
You are the one sounding dumb here and point of correction. I’m not excited about the marriage, besides, it’s not real. It’s a contract marriage. We are both helping each other.
I just need to tell my kids about it, they are part of my life now, and whatever decision I make, they are part of it. They are my family and to me family is everything, so stop saying shit” Hannah said angrily and ended the phone call.
How dare he tell me I divorced the father of the kids when I do not even know the father, Hannah thought wondering who the father of the kids was, memories of that night running into her head like flash.
She was so sure it would be one of those random street guys, she quickly shook off the thoughts, she wasn’t ready to think about the past. It was going to ruin her mood more than Brandon has ruined it.
She scoffed angrily and lay on the bed.
****************
Meanwhile, Brandon is seen holding his phone angrily.
“How dare she insult me? She called me dumb” Brandon thought angrily. No one has ever insulted him or spoken to him rudely.
Everyone is so scared of him but this woman had the gut to speak to him rudely and still insult him. I’m going to teach her a lesson, he thought angrily.
But then on second thought, the word she said “Family is everything” that was the last word her mother had told him that night when he was about to sleep and that was the last time he saw her mom.
“Family is everything”, he muttered slowly, memories of his mom coming into his head.
