Chasing Back My Ex-wife

Chapter 25

Chapter 25

One moment, she dreamt of her father hitting her when he was drunk, then of her mother begging for her forgiveness.

In the next, she dreamt of accidentally breaking her brother's toys and him smashing the controller and other toys on her head. Then, when the toys smashed towards her, they became her father's leg as he kicked her over and over with a vile expression. He kept cursing, "B*stard child..."

"Ah!"

Lucy screamed and sat up hugging her blanket. Her forehead was already covered with a sheen of cold sweat.

She looked out of the window and found that the sky was already bright. She checked the time and saw that it was already 7:30 in the morning!

Lucy had a bad headache from not sleeping well and rushed to take a shower.

After changing her clothes, she grabbed her handbag and rushed downstairs. Only after leaving the building did it hit her that her car was still at the shopping mall parking lot.

Right at that moment...

"Come here!"

She heard a cold, hard voice.

Lucy looked up and saw him leaning against the Bentley in sunglasses.

The morning sunlight shone on him, making him look dazzlingly handsome.

Lucy went blank for a moment, then frowned and got into the Bentley under other people's gazes.

Usually, when she got in from the left door, Arthur would get in from the right. However, that day, he got in after her and sat with half his body touching hers.

"Arthur, you're leaning on me!" He looked slim, but he was actually very heavy. She was about to get squashed!

Arthur snorted and leaned closer against her, pinning her hands above her head. "Now this is what I call leaning on you, get it?"

Lucy's expression changed, and she felt very embarrassed. "Arthur, will it kill you not to be horny for one day?"

Every time they met, he knew nothing else but to do these kinds of things.

He didn't actually like her. He just liked her body!

Arthur stared at her rosy lips and sneered. "What's wrong? Didn't Maddox get horny like this?"

When he thought of how Maddox had kissed her the day before, he felt his chest tighten and felt like burning the world down!

"We're just ordinary friends. It's not as indecent as you think!" If it wasn't because she was afraid that Arthur would get crazy and do something to Maddox's company, she would never explain herself to him!

Hearing that, Arthur tightened his grip slowly and his eyes became bloodshot. He looked like a wild beast.

He had already seen them kiss the day before, but she was still telling him that they were ordinary friends! How many of those ordinary friends did she have?

"Arthur, you're hurting me!" At first, Lucy gritted her teeth and bore with the pain, but he was gripping her harder. She couldn't take it anymore!

Arthur froze and let his aggressiveness subside bit by bit. Then, he let go of her hands abruptly and sat to the other side.

He couldn't control himself whenever it came to her!

Lucy grabbed the chance and sat far away, looking at him warily. She thought what a real psycho he was.

They sat in tense silence the whole way until they arrived at a café.

"I've checked, and you like the food here." Arthur fended off her excuses before she could speak.

Lucy bit back the words she was about to say and followed him into the café reluctantly.

It was just an ordinary café that served toast and pasta. Since the price range was average, there were many people and majority of them were high school students.

A few teenage girls eyed Arthur secretly with unbridled admiration in their eyes.

"Wow, he's so handsome!"

"He's so good-looking. Is he some sort of celebrity?" RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only

"I'm so jealous of her for having such a hot boyfriend."

The group of girls chattered on, and they felt like taking pictures with him. However, they felt intimidated by Arthur's temperament and only dared to check him out from afar while gossiping.

Lucy sat down and frowned as she watched Arthur, who was scrubbing the table with a stormy look. She really found it harder and harder to understand him.

He used to hate that kind of café the most. It wasn't because it was low-end, but because it wasn't clean. Even if a gun was pointed to his head, he still might not come.

Then why did he bring her here?

"I'm going to queue up. Don't even think of running away!" Arthur wiped the table with a tissue for a few

times, gave her a warning, and went to line up.

The café was very noisy and there were tons of people lining up. He looked very out of place in his smart suit.

Lucy sat there watching him getting nudged around and holding himself back from bursting into rage. She couldn't identify the emotion she was feeling.

Thirty minutes later, it was finally Arthur's turn. He ordered two plates of toast and two bowls of mushroom soup, then brought them to the table on a tray.

The two bowls of mushroom soup were squished onto one tray, and when he tried to lift one of the bowls, he burned his hand. He cast a quick glance at her and put his hand behind his back.

Lucy sighed and put one bowl in front of him. Then, she went to get two spoons and put one in his bowl.

In the past, she had been the one to hide her hand under her shirt after hurting it while cooking. However, he had never eaten any food she cooked. He said it was dirty.

"Arthur, let's talk." It was the first time Lucy spoke to him nicely since their reunion.

Arthur wiped the spoon with a clean napkin and said in a cold, distant voice, "I have nothing to talk to you about!"

"But I do." Lucy looked at the food and had no appetite to eat. "We got divorced five years ago. We shouldn't be clinging to each other to the..."

"I'm done eating. I'll pick you up at night!" The spoon made a clear ring as it hit the bowl.

Arthur stood up. Without even wiping his mouth, he strode out, but he looked more like he was running away.

Lucy pursed her lips, got up, and walked to the counter. "Hi, could you help me pack up the toast and soup for takeaway? Thanks."

By then, the rush hour had passed and there were lesser people.

"Miss, I'll pack up the food you didn't finish." Lucy and Arthur's looks were just too eye-catching, and the waitress had observed them the whole time. She knew they hadn't touched their food.

Lucy smiled and took out her purse. "I'll have another serving."

"Okay, please wait a moment." The waitress didn't know what Lucy was thinking. Did she have too much money to spend?

The waitress quickly packed up another serving. Lucy took it, said thanks, and took a cab to her company.

"Ms. Morgan, you're finally here. Ms. Figueroa has been waiting for you for half an hour! If you still didn't show up, I think she would have blown this building sky-high!" Her staff was so thankful to see

her.

She didn't know what was up with Lucy. She had been late for two days in a row!

"Oh, I'll head over right now." Holding the breakfast takeaway, Lucy walked into her office.

In the office, Kylah was smashing a cushion against the desk while cursing under her breath.
