Chapter 1270
Cooking together made things go much faster. Nina chopped the vegetables while Nash took care of the stir-frying, and before long, the four dishes and a soup were ready.
As Nina was about to carry the food out, Nash suddenly wrapped his arms around her waist from behind. "Nina, you've been working so hard lately. I feel bad. I've been so focused on the company, and you've had to handle everything at home by yourself." "Don't say that," she replied, turning to face him. "We're married, we're partners. There's no need to feel like you owe me anything."
With a soft smile, she added, "Besides, you're working hard to provide for us, not off doing something shady. As your wife, it's my job to support you. We're a team, and I would never give you a hard time for it."
Nina understood the pressure Nash was under, managing the company and shouldering so much responsibility. The last thing she wanted was to add more stress by asking too much of him at home.
Looking into her eyes, Nash felt a deep sense of gratitude and love. "Meeting you was the best thing that ever happened to me," he said softly, his heart overflowing with happiness.
He leaned in closer, the space between them shrinking, and their lips were just about to meet when-
Knock, knock, knock.
The moment was interrupted by the sound of knocking on the door. The warm, intimate atmosphere in the kitchen quickly dissipated.
Nina quickly adjusted her clothes and went to answer the door. "Orion, are you awake?"
"Uh-huh!" Orion nodded eagerly. "Can I help you guys with the cooking?"
"No need, dinner's ready," Nina said, smiling as she tousled his hair. "All you need to do is grab some utensils and sit down for dinner." Orion, always eager to help, insisted, "I can carry the plates!"
He tiptoed, reaching for the dish and carefully bringing it to the table, proud of his small contribution.
Before dinner, Nina checked on their daughter, Gemma, who was still sleeping soundly on the couch. She was clutching the stuffed toy Nash had brought her. Every now and them she smacked her lips in her sleep, like she was dreaming of something sweet.
Nina gently tucked her in before returning to the dinner table.
As they ate, Nash shared some exciting news. "The weather's supposed to be really nice the next couple of days. How about we take little family trip tomorrow?" "Really?" Orion's face lit up with excitement. "That would be amazing!"
He had been wanting to spend more time with his parents, but he knew how busy his dad had been lately, so he hadn't asked. Hearing Nash suggest it made him even happier.
Nina was thrilled too, but she
couldn't help feeling a bit concerned. "What about work? With Quincy and Lydia managing their own business now, everything is on you. Are you sure you won't be overloading yourself?"
She worried that even if they went on the trip, Nash might still be tied to his phone and laptop, working the whole time. The last thing she wanted was for him to overwork himself.
Nash caught her concerned look and smiled, seeing the care in her eyes. "Nina, are you worried about me?"
"Of course I am. And don't try to change the subject," she said, her voice firm but loving. "If we go on this trip, who's going to handle everything at the office? You can't do it all by yourself."
Orion, sensing the seriousness of
the conversation, quietly set down his utensils. As much as he wanted to go on the trip, he didn't want his dad to be overwhelmed or stressed out. He would rather his dad be healthy and happy. NôvelDrama.Org owns all © content.
