Chapter 35: Suspect
Agatha was babbling to Cara about everything in the house. While listening and observing, Cara was stunned by the wasteful spending of the rich. Cara promised herself, she will do her best to recover soon and get out of there. Cara wasn’t sure she could live comfortably in this strange place. It’s the world that doesn’t seem right for Cara. At this time, Mrs. Agatha is introducing Cara to the ground floor of the house, as well as to the staff. The number of people working is too much, for a family of four members. So Cara had to work very hard to remember their names and faces. People with whom Cara will live in the near future. It could be a year for Cara to fully recover, according to the female doctor’s prediction.
Mrs. Agatha is instructing employees to treat Cara well. Meanwhile, Cara, looking absentmindedly, turned her attention to the garden outside. It is a beautiful garden. There are many flowers grown. Cara has always loved flowers. Maybe that will be Cara’s favorite place in this house.
“Isn’t it beautiful, Cara?” Agatha asked as she followed Cara’s passionate gaze. That garden is also her favorite place.
“Let me take you out there and see.”
After that, Mrs. Agatha excitedly pushed the wheelchair and took Cara out into the garden. Cara did not have time to protest or refuse to let the woman push her cart. So I had to obediently keep quiet.
“Here, at night, you can sleep under the little lights. Look at the starry sky.” Agatha said excitedly: “You will feel like a princess or a fairy in paradise. Everything is beautiful, isn’t it?”
Princess? Fairies? Cara smiled faintly at that ridiculous comparison. Olwen had long since stopped dreaming of fairy tales. And everything Agatha said, from Cara’s point of view, was exaggerated. Once again Cara wondered, do rich people think differently? When Agatha invited Cara to live with her. Cara imagined a small room, with a bed and a simple desk for studying. If there is no bed, it’s okay, Cara is ready to sleep on the floor. But look, the reality is very different from fantasy. The things that were in Cara’s eyes made her scared, rather than happy.
“I am very impressed with the structure of the house. Everything is beautiful. I don’t know what else to say, madam.”
“I know you must be overwhelmed by everything.” Mrs. Agatha said with understanding and Cara nodded slightly: “But trust me, you’ll soon get used to everything here. And you’ll love it here.”
“Yes.” Cara smiled softly in response. Cara does not dare to dream far, she just hopes that she does not make mistakes, or offend anyone in this house. According to Cara, although very generous and hospitable, when they are strict, Helen’s family is very scary.
There was a moment of silence, then Cara suddenly spoke up.
“I don’t want to be rude, and I’m sorry ma’am. But I want to be left alone. I feel dizzy.”
“I have prepared a delicious snack for you. Enjoy it first.” Agatha convinces Cara.NôvelDrama.Org (C) content.
The woman’s gaze confused Cara, then hesitated. She doesn’t want the woman to be upset. Before Cara could answer, a voice interrupted.
“Mommy.” It was Alden’s voice: “Miss Cara needs space. Let her settle down and rest.”
He is approaching the two, along with Gavin and Dante – who have not been able to find Cara’s location, because the house is too big. With no other choice, Dante must follow the Helen brothers.
Agatha made a slightly sad face, but she had to do as Cara asked. Alden is right, the world here is different from Cara’s. Cara needs time to adapt. Agatha should not pressure Cara.
“Okay then. I’ll take you to your room.” Agatha said softly: “If you need anything just call, and the worker will help you.”
“I know, madam, thank you very much.” Cara smiled a very sweet and friendly smile.
“Cara. Do you need a friend to talk to?” Dante interjected, he was already squatting in front of Cara.
“Thanks, Dante, but I really need to sleep.” Cara looked down at Dante, politely refusing.
Dante is not pleased with all because Cara avoids him. But Dante didn’t try to convince Cara either. Since he was clearly in front of Helen’s family, it was necessary to save some face for himself. Instead, Dante suddenly kissed the top of Cara’s head, making Cara a little startled. According to the reaction, Cara wanted to back away from Dante, unfortunately, she was stuck in a wheelchair. Because she is not used to the car, Cara can only sit motionlessly and suffer the disadvantage. Cara wanted to scold Dante but had to hold back because Agatha’s mother and daughter were watching. And then, Dante didn’t even bother to ask permission, he picked Cara up to her surprise, and she groaned in annoyance.
“What are you doing, Dante? Put me down.” Cara requested.
Dante protested, ignoring Cara, and turned to Agatha, who was briefly surprised by Dante’s impulsive behavior.
“Where’s Cara’s room, auntie? Tell me. I’ll take Cara there.”
“At the end of the hallway, ground floor.” Mrs. Agatha quickly mastered her mind, answering politely.
“Thanks.” With that said, Dante led Cara toward her room, despite Cara’s objections.
“Dante put me down.”
“I’ll help you to your room,” Dante said stubbornly.
“I can do it on my own. You’re treating me as useless.” Cara scolded irritably, “And I don’t like that.”
“Be quiet Cara, you will disturb others.” Dante reminded me.
Never mind Cara’s displeasure. Dante kept walking, unaware that behind him, two pairs of eyes were watching. Gavin and Agatha both raised suspicious eyebrows. While Alden – who could not see anything was very curious. Alden wondered what was going on.
Dante laid Cara down on the bed, then deliberately lingered a little longer. Dante wants to talk to Cara. Cara, however, brutally ignored him. In the end, Dante had to leave in a rush. Seeing Dante leave Cara’s room, Gavin at once left the outside door, and headed for the kitchen, pretending his stealthy actions didn’t exist.
After Dante left, Cara opened her eyes, staring at the ceiling. She felt everything happened so suddenly, and to this day she still feels her heart beating fast. Cara still doesn’t know how to turn down Dante’s confession. Before the accident, Cara had easily avoided Dante. But for now, Cara feared it would be difficult. What should Cara do? Cara really doesn’t want to be around Dante – a follower of hers is dangerous.
Dante then greeted everyone and left. No one saw Dante off, and he didn’t need it himself. Dante leaves thinking about how to convince Cara to come to him. Dante loves Cara very much. By all means, Dante must get Cara.
Unbeknownst to Dante, a pair of eyes followed him from behind, until Dante stepped out of the gate. That person was none other than Gavin himself. With his acumen, Gavin discovered something suspicious in Dante’s attitude towards Cara, and vice versa when Cara was near Dante. In his mind, Gavin began to think of ways to avoid sudden visits from the boy – Alden’s friend. Gavin doesn’t hold a grudge or hate Dante, but Dante’s behavior around Cara is very dangerous. Gavin also observed Cara seemed annoyed, even wary of Dante’s rude contact.
Gavin was very interested in learning about this anomaly. Not just out of curiosity, but for the benefit of many.
Gavin hopes nothing bad will happen.
