Betrayal At The Altar

Chapter 48

Chapter 48

Sometimes, Rachel couldn’t help but be amazed by Jane’s ability to falsely accuse others.

She would often be able to anger her with just a few words.

Rachel’s eyes were cold, and her gaze was sharp. Then, glaring daggers at Jane, she hollered, “I pestered him?! Have you forgotten how your brother, Louis, begged me to help the Smith family back then?!”

Faced with her cold eyes, Jane immediately felt a little intimidated as she subconsciously leaned closer to Olivia for protection.

Olivia maintained a mellow expression, but there was a trace of disgust deep down in her eyes.

She thought that Jane was a coward who was afraid of the powerful and only bullied the weak!

After calming down, she pretended to be kind and understanding. She unhurriedly said, “Rachel, Jane has no hostile intentions. If you don’t mind, why don’t we have dinner together? We can take this opportunity to clear the air and avoid any misunderstandings in the future. I reckon Louis wouldn’t mind.” Text © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

A cold gaze appeared in Rachel’s eyes, and she said with a trace of annoyance, “A good dog doesn’t get in the way. So please get out of the way!”

Jane immediately stomped her feet in anger. She pointed at Rachel and complained, “Rachel Grey, who are you calling a dog? Forget about leaving unless you make things clear today!”

“What happened?” Louis asked, his mellow and deep voice sounding behind.

When he strode over, he happened to catch a glimpse of Rachel, which caused a trace of bewilderment to surface in his deep eyes.

After all these years, he had already gotten used to seeing Rachel in a black business suit. But, now that she was wearing something in another color besides black, she was particularly eye–catching.

The color of her outfit accentuated her cold and aloof temperament, while her black hair and red lips added a touch of sultriness.

Standing at the side, Olivia stared at Louis, who was getting slightly distracted by Rachel. Her gaze gradually turned cold, and she clenched her fists tightly, maintaining a warm and mellow smile. “Louis, it happens that Rachel is having dinner tonight here too. So I want to invite her to join us. You won’t mind, will you?”

As she spoke, she naturally hugged Louis tightly, with her arms wrapped around his waist. She was declaring sovereignty.

Louis snapped back to his senses and looked down at the woman in his arms. Then, with an affectionate expression, he said, “You call the shots.”

Staring at the scene before her, Rachel found it all too ironic. She sneered and turned around to leave.

“Rachel Grey, we’re kind enough to treat you to dinner. Don’t be ignorant and ungrateful!” Jane barked, watching Rachel turn around to leave. She charged forward and blocked her from leaving. “Lansen Restaurant is the most famous fench–style restaurant in Seaxas. I heard that their

ingredients are all freshly flown in from France, Usually, you’d need a reservation to get in. If you barge in like this. I’m afraid you’d get chased out like a dog.”

“Get lost!”

Staring at Rachel’s cold, dark, and relentless eyes, Jane felt strangled for some reason. She subconsciously retreated. Before she could react, Rachel had already strode into the restaurant.

David, who was standing in front of the floor–to–ceiling window on the second floor, frowned coldly after seeing their exchange. He turned around and picked up the roses on the table before walking out. “Speak to the manager and tell him that he can close for the day!”

“Yes!”

Eddie assented without hesitation and went straight to the restaurant manager after parting from David.

At that moment, Louis, Olivia, and the rest had already reached the entrance of Lansen Restaurant. However, before they entered, the waitress suddenly walked out and said apologetically, “I’m sorry, we won’t be open for business today.”

“What do you mean by that?!” Louis hollered, his face suddenly turning sullen.

“We’ve made a reservation! Why won’t you let us in?!” Jane barked. She was incredibly exasperated, especially after watching Rachel enter the restaurant without any hindrance. With her face twisted into an angry grimace, she questioned, “Why didn’t you stop that woman in a blue suit from entering? Why are you stopping us instead? Is this how you run a business? You clearly have something against us!”
