NIRVANA
“No freaking way! That’s impossible.” My eyes grew wide as I stared at them one by one.
“Is it, though?” McKaye said. “We trained for months.”
“To fight that freaking monster?”
“Your bloodline is some kind of link to an ancient warlock from Greece,” McKaye explained. “And you were the only one who could kill that son of a bitch.”
“Yeah. My mother’s side from my grandmother were witches.”
“And you don’t have a gift?” Knight asked me hesitantly.
“No. Why? Should I?”
He glanced at Zarah.
“You’re a witch, Zarah. Can’t you jag my memory or something?”
“It doesn’t work that way.”
“Then I’m sorry to disappoint you, guys, but I don’t remember fighting an evil warlock named Cyrius.”
“What about him?” Kaleb, the beta, tipped his chin at the alpha.
Alpha Knight finally groomed himself, looking hotter and smelled so good.
I couldn’t help but smile, and every time I looked at him, my heart skipped a beat. “No.”
“You’re lying.”Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.
“Excuse me?” I arched a brow at him.
“I can hear your heartbeat racing, Nirvana.”
“Yeah, because my stupid wolf just-” She groaned angrily. “I’m going home. It’s a mistake coming here, anyway.”
I went to the door only to be stopped by the tall, big, angry alpha.
I sucked in a breath, and my eyes widened in shock the moment our hands touched, and the memory flashed to life behind my eyes. It was too much. There were so many memories- happy, sad, and painful- that all emotions rushed into me simultaneously.
“Hey. Hey, Nirvana?”
I grasped and held onto his arm before I lost my balance, and he was there to catch me before I fell to the floor.
“Too much.” I sobbed and curled into a ball as he put me on the couch.
“Hey. It’s okay. Take it easy.”
“No. I can’t.” There was so much love, loss, pain, and blood.
“Give us a room, please?”
“I think my job here is done,” Zarah said before disappearing.
“We’re in the living room if you need us.” Kailin left with the guys, leaving me alone with my estranged wife, but I guessed, not so estranged anymore.
“Can I get you some water?”
“You hesitated. I felt it.” I kept crying. The memories that I lost I’d never known I experienced all of those. I had so much pain and suffering, but I had so much fun and happiness and felt so much love I could explode right now.
“You can’t remember who I am, and with what I experienced, monsters like Cyrius could easily take your body as his vessel.” I felt his hand holding mine. “I’m sorry, Nirvana.”
I chuckled as I wiped my tears. “You used to call me sweetheart.”
“Yeah. I still do, sweetheart.” He took my hand and pressed it against his lips. “Do you remember what you said to me before we went to fight Cyrius?”
“Is this some kind of a test?” I sniffled as I got up on the couch. “I didn’t know your birthday until before we got married. You rejected me and came to my apartment in New York, and that’s how I found out about my grandpa being a werewolf and you the alpha.”
“You saw Gage-”
“Shifted in the vineyards, and I was so drawn to you like a magnet, and I couldn’t understand why.”
He came to join me on the couch and pulled me into his arms. “Oh, sweetheart. I thought I lost you.” His body shook until I realized he was crying. “I mourned and still denied that you were gone, and then suddenly you were standing there, but you didn’t recognize me. It fucking hurt.”
I glanced at him. A tremor ran through my body at what I saw in his eyes. He was so broken when I saw him in the tasting room, and it was because of me. I could feel it like he was holding something.
For the first time, he smiled at me, his eyes filled with anticipation and devotion.
“Knight,” I said his name breathlessly, and his searing gaze bore into mine.
I took the courage to cup his face, and we stared at each other in comfortable silence like we’d done this a thousand times.
Knight crushed his mouth into mine, gripped my hips, and lifted me up so I could sit on his lap. His kiss was savage, demanding, longing as if he wanted to seek into my soul, imprinted me, and made me feel him.
I let go a shuddering sigh as I kissed him back with the same intensity, fisting my hands into his hair as he kissed me deeper, taking me in.
My pulse throbbed. My skin was on fire, and I let go of a low moan of pleasure.
We only took a break to breathe, and the kiss went on and on like we needed it like we wanted it so badly we could die in vain if we didn’t have each other.
A low grunt rumbled from within his chest as he broke away suddenly. He then looked at me in the eye, speechless.
“Is that bad? Or our first kiss was better?”
Breathing hard, his chest heaving before pressing his lips into mine again and peppering me with kisses all over my face and neck, and then he stopped, his spine tensing.
“What’s wrong?”
“My mark is gone.”
“Yeah. I’m unmated-”
“Fuck you.”
I glared at him. “Fuck you, too.”
He broke into a smile. “That’s my girl.”
“Wait. How did I become a werewolf?”
“How did you end up in New York?”
“I don’t know. I was even in Italy for an art exhibit. I sold two paintings.”
“I’m proud of you.”
“I met Zarah there, and then I went home and visited Grandpa, who hadn’t picked up my call. Then he acted weird and told me I should visit Kailin.”
“Did you sleep with anyone while in Italy? Or do you have a boyfriend named Axell?”
“Wow.” I arched a brow. “You went there so quick, huh?”
“I don’t give a shit, sweetheart.”
I hugged him tightly and kissed his head. “When I-” My eyes watered again.
“You don’t have to tell me.”
“I know. I still feel what it was like watching you getting killed and dying, and I couldn’t do anything. It was fucking awful, Knight.”
“I looked for you for hours and spent days and nights at the cliff, debating if I should just jump to end my suffering, but I held on to your promise, Nirvana.” He pulled something inside his shirt and showed it to me.
“My engagement ring and my wedding band.”
He took the necklace off around his neck and put the rings in his palm. I offered my finger, and he put on the ring and the band and kissed my hand.
“You wanna go home?”
