Chapter 367 Am I Really His Sister
Chapter 367 Am I Really His Sister
Janet was thrilled with Caspar's words. She asked, "Really? The twins are beginning to look like me?"
"No!" Before Caspar could answer, Daniel coldly cut in and shattered her excitement.
The atmosphere around them became awkward.
Fortunately, Jerry came in and greeted Caspar, clearing out the tense air.
Holding Michelle in her arms, Janet sat back next to Daniel. When she saw Jerry, she thought about his
sermon just now, so she complained to Samuel, "Dad! I need to tell on Jerry!"
Samuel raised his brows and asked, "What's wrong?"
"Jerry Shao had become a 'long-winded man'. He gave me a long sermon earlier!" Janet deliberately
glared at her brother, who just sat back on his seat.
Jerry rolled his eyes at her and went to hug his son.
...
He ignored Janet's stare.
"Dad! Look at him! See how bad his manners are? Am I really his sister?" protested Janet. Janet was
not actually angry. She was just joking around, trying to lighten up the atmosphere.
Sitting in Ella's arms, Melissa curiously looked at her protesting mother and asked, "Mommy, what is a
'long-winded' man?"
"A person who says a lot, " said Janet.
"But Mommy, you're a long-winded person, too! Everyday, you say 'Melissa, don't do this... don't do
that..', right?" asked Melissa.
Everyone burst out laughing.
Melissa imitated Janet's tone, and gestured like a parent, which made everyone laugh out louder.
Janet's face darkened, and with her palm on her forehead, she told everyone, "I must teach Melissa
Shao a lesson tonight when we get back home!"
"It's Melissa Si!" Daniel corrected her. He had arranged for someone to change Melissa's name on the
household registration. This is from NôvelDrama.Org.
But there seemed to be some technical delays, so that it wasn't changed yet.
"Janet, when will the twins go to kindergarten?" asked Caspar. He sat next to Jerry. There were two
people between him and Janet.
Janet was about to answer him, but she instantly received a warning glance from Jerry.
...
Janet really wanted to cry. Daniel had seemed to have gotten into Jerry's head. Instead of Janet, Daniel
answered, "Mr. Caspar, my daughters will go to kindergarten one month later!"
Caspar returned a smile and tried to keep calm, saying, "Have you chosen a good kindergarten yet?"
Janet opened her mouth, but Daniel spoke before she did, "The kindergarten, which my daughters are
going to, had just finished construction. It will open in a month, exactly when my daughters would go."
... Daniel kept stressing the words 'my daughters'. Caspar, of course, had noticed it and understood his
possessiveness.
Hearing his words, Janet was shocked and looked at Daniel. Janet wondered if he meant that he had
built a new kindergarten for his daughters.
Coincidentally, Sally asked out her doubt, "Brother, is the twins' kindergarten done yet?"
... Janet looked at Daniel with a puzzled look in her eyes. Daniel also moved his eyes away from the
table to Janet. Their gazes met.
He said, "Yes, it's done!"
"When did you build a kindergarten? Why don't I know about it?" asked Janet. She now felt that Daniel
had done a lot of things behind her.
Daniel grinned, and said smugly, "I wanted to surprise you."
...
He was meaning to show off his love in front of Caspar!
The appetizers were now on the table. Samuel raised his glass of red wine, stood up, and told Caspar,
"Caspar, I offer my sincere gratitude to you for what you had done for my daughter and two
granddaughters. If you need any help in C Country, please let me know. The Shao family will do our
best to help you in any way we can!"
The elders stood up, so everyone else stood up as well. They all held up their glasses of wine.
Daniel looked at Caspar, smiling, and said, "Mr. Caspar, it was my fault. I made my wife and children
suffer a lot. Thank you for your help to them. If you need any help, the Si family will also be happy to
help."
Jerry raised his glass and said, "We owe you a lot. Thank you! Mr. Caspar, please do tell us if you need
anything. We can help you!"
Caspar flashed a grin of bitterness, which only he knew.
These three men had made their stances clear. They all knew Caspar's feelings toward Janet. This
was a power play, and reminder of how he had to go through them first before he could reach Janet.
With his right hand in his pocket and his left holding his glass, Caspar scanned the people present, and
finally opened his mouth, "Mr. Samuel, Mr. Si, and Mr. Shao, you are so welcome. It's my pleasure to
have met Janet, and also my honor to take care of her and the twins!"
Janet initially had wanted to say something, but she remembered her brother's words and just kept her
mouth shut.
Her father and brother had already said enough.
"Caspar, come, let's toast!" Then, everyone clinked their glasses and drank the wine.
Because the twins were there, the room was filled with laughter.
Daniel coldly stared at Caspar, who was holding the twins in his arms. He felt so discontent to see this
scene.
Janet picked up a slice of beef and put it on his plate. She then asked in a low voice, "Where is the
kindergarten?"
"Near the Royal Mansion neighborhood, " said Daniel.
...
Fine! She did see a building under construction nearby, but she didn't think much of it.
When the dishes were almost finished, the room's door suddenly opened. Spark was at the door.
"Mr. Shao and Mrs. Shao, good evening! I'm here to bring something to Mr. Si." Spark greeted the
elders, with a file packet in his hands.
Ella stood from her seat and said, "Spark, have you had any food yet? Come, sit. I'll ask the waiter to
bring a new set of dinnerware, and I'll order some more dishes."
Spark refused, "No, thank you, Mrs. Shao. I've had dinner at the company, and I still have some
unfinished work, so I have to go back!" Spark handed the file packet to Daniel and went toward the
door.
"Why are you in a rush? Come, have some food here!" demanded Ella again. Spark was moved by
Ella's hospitality, but he still used his unfinished work as an excuse and left the room.
When the door was closed, Daniel spoke to Samuel and Ella, "Dad, Mom, here is a copy of the file.
Please have it. It's my betrothal present for you."
...
Daniel did it on purpose!
Why did he pick up this time to give his betrothal present? He purposely did it in front of Caspar!
Daniel was such a sly fox.
Samuel and Ella exchanged glances with each other. Samuel understood Daniel's intention.
Taking the betrothal present was a symbol of blessing to a marriage, so Samuel should accept it.
Samuel then took the file packet from his hand, and while wearing a smile, he said, "Okay, thank you.
What date is your wedding ceremony?"
"The date is not fixed yet. We can discuss it later, " said Daniel. Of course, the Shao family and the Si
family must discuss it together.
While playing with the glass in his hand, Caspar remained silent the moment he heard Daniel. Daniel
had done a good job! Caspar now really felt like an outsider.
When he saw Samuel accept Daniel's present, Caspar thought he might as well give up. His beloved
woman would get married to this man, and there was nothing else he could do.
"Janet, congratulations!" Caspar's words made Janet come back to her senses.
She looked at Caspar, in a daze, and asked, "What? Congratulations on what?"
... Instantly, Daniel's face darkened.
