Branch Twenty Seven
Since Jessica was excited to be sharing her meals with others her body clock made her stand up by five am. She was going to prepare a full sore as breakfast for her husband today.
Although their circumstances were not normal Jessica was going to do her best to make lemonade out of unripe lemons that life had thrown her direction.
The house staff was shocked to see her come out to prepare breakfast.
“Good morning Roselle” Jessica greeted the middle-aged woman.
Roselle had been all stern and annoying on Jessica about the way they address themselves. She insisted that Jessica called her on a first-name basis which Jessica was quite uncomfortable with and she still went ahead to address her as a young lady. If only this woman knew that she and Xavier were planning to sign a contract that would make them go separate ways today.
“Good morning young lady, can I help you with something?” Roselle asked when she saw Jessica in the kitchen.
Roselle was still very skeptical about the sudden appearance of Jessica in the lives of the lonely Delgado men but she supported her not because she trusted her but because she knew this man and how closed off they had lived since their son and father died.
Dawson lost his wife shortly before his son died. Since then he devoted his entire time to growing his company and focusing all his energy on Xavier. Xavier only ever knew his parent’s love and lost them while he was still young.
The fact that he was an only child who was being homeschooled by his professor of a mother at that time only made things even worse for him as he had no friends to classmates. Dawson only put him in a school because the therapist said it was the best shot they had at helping him navigate his life and heal. Although he did not fully heal he did get better. At least that was when he met Brian. This text is property of Nô/velD/rama.Org.
“I would be making breakfast for Mr. Delgado,” Jessica said to Roselle who seemed to want to know everything.
“The young master? Breakfast?” Roselle asked.
Ever since Xavier was big enough to make his decisions he stopped eating breakfast when Dawson confronted him on the issue he said eating breakfast only reminded him of his mom’s special pancakes and made him sad. So it was no surprise that Roselle was surprised that Xavier would be having breakfast.
“Yes, he asked me to take charge of his breakfast from now on,” Jessica responded pulling out the ingredients for pancakes.
She decided to make a full breakfast of pancakes, sausages, bacon, homemade syrup, and eggs. Usually, Roselle would have kicked against allowing Jessica to prepare food all by herself again. The food that was eaten in the house was prepared by a famous chef who was barely able to do any work at home thanks to the arrival of Jessica, but if it meant that Xavier would be eating then Roselle was more than willing to allow Jessica to cook up a storm.
“I will assist you,” Roselle said picking up an apron and giving it to Jessica with a smile on her face.
Roselle felt a little closer to Jessica. She promised herself that if Jessica could show care for the men of the Delgado family then she would support her wholeheartedly.
Jessica was fast and efficient in the kitchen and for the first time since Roselle’s eyes were not covered by prejudice, she could see what a darling of a person she was.
Soon Jessica was done cooking the breakfast, she made extra for Roselle to have to thank her for the help. Roselle had a little of the meal left for her and she was content with the outcome. Roselle never tasted what the young master’s mother’s pancakes tasted like but she could say that Jessica made a good feast.
Jessica glanced at the walk clock on her way out of the kitchen and noticed it was almost eight am. She was going to have her birth and then come back down to wait for Xavier so they could have breakfast before the signing of their contract.
Jessica pushed the door knob and entered the room. She noticed an empty bed and heard the shower on. She sighed because she missed her opportunity to have her bath immediately since she was all sweaty and felt disgusted with herself.
She sat on the bed waiting for him to be done, after a few minutes she heard the shower turn off and the door open. She has expected he would come out in a bathrobe and Xavier did not expect her to be sitting waiting on the bed.
When he decided to have his bath she was not in the room hence his confidence to come out with only his towel strapped almost loosely around his waist. He stopped at the door of the bathroom as Jessica stared at his chiseled chest.
She confessed internally that the shirts that Xavier wore did him no justice at all. His abs and chest looked very beautiful to behold. No girl on the planet would be interested in his beautiful chest.
Xavier felt self-conscious as Jessica could not pull her eyes away from his chest. He would probably not believe her if she told him that she was trying her best to look away but the glory of his chest was not letting him do so. Xavier put his hands over his chest as if to cover it from the peering eyes of Jessica. Jessica felt her cheeks get hot and then she looked away.
“I did not hear you come in,” Xavier said.
He could feel that Jessica was embarrassed and he did not want to make her feel bad.
“Emmm, yeah I just finished preparing breakfast and I thought to take a shower,” Jessica said trying her best to look everywhere except at him.
Xavier entered the closet and as soon as he was no longer in eye range, Jessica stood up and bolted to the bathroom while using her hand to fan herself.
She stood in front of the mirror and murmured to herself.
“What are you doing?”
