A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 913: Angry

Brendon waited for most of the day before Ranita finally woke up, giving him the chance to enter the hospital room.

“I’ll go in, you stay out!” Brendon had waited a long time, but Shannon refused to leave and clung to him.

The man walked straight to Ranita’s side.

“Ranita, are you okay?” Brendon’s voice was choked, and his eyes seemed red, making Ranita feel a pang of sadness.

Ranita had just recovered; she had fainted mainly due to a fever and low blood sugar. Other than that, she was fine.

Her eyes were a bit red, looking at people with a hint of grievance.

“Where does it hurt?” Brendon asked softly, bending down to sit by the bed and holding her hand.

Ranita glanced through the observation window and saw Shannon standing outside, wearing her dress…

She wasn’t usually petty, it was just a dress, but because it was Shannon, she minded very much.

“Get out, I don’t want to see you!” Ranita’s head was spinning, the fever making her mind unclear. She feared she might impulsively say something she’d regret, so she didn’t want to communicate with Brendon at this moment.

“Miss Murphy is still waiting for you outside. You should go; I need to rest now!” Ranita turned her eyes away from him.

The more she looked at him, the more it hurt.

“Ranita!” Brendon held her hand. Her cheeks were flushed, but her fingers were cold, making his heart race with worry.

“Can you listen to my explanation?”

Ranita shook her head. “No need. Let’s talk later; I want to sleep for a while.”

Ranita thought of Ayaan and couldn’t help but remind him, “Remember to call Ayaan when you get back.”

Even though things were tense between them, it shouldn’t affect their child.

“He’s a bit upset.”

Brendon was taken aback. “What happened?”

Ranita pressed her lips together. He had probably spent the whole night with Shannon and didn’t know Ayaan had called him!

Ranita’s heart felt like it was pierced with cactus thorns, bleeding inside.

“It’s nothing.” After a pause, Ranita weakly waved her hand. “You should go! I want to rest.”

“Ranita…” Brendon coaxed softly. “I’ll stay and take care of you…”

“No need! Brendon… can you give me some peace? I’m very tired right now.” Ranita started coughing violently after speaking a few words, her face turning pale.

“Please, okay?” She didn’t want Brendon to see her so vulnerable, like an abandoned kitten waiting for a bit of pity.

“Brendon, please, can you leave?”

Her voice was hoarse and choked with sobs.

Ranita was very upset.

Brendon wanted to say something, wanted to do something, but found he could do nothing.

“Alright, I’ll go. Don’t speak anymore! Rest well.” Before leaving, Brendon suddenly bent down and kissed her forehead.

Ranita’s already flushed cheeks burned even more from the kiss.

She looked at Brendon in a daze, her eyes misty and pitiful. Brendon couldn’t resist kissing her cheek again.

“Ranita, can I come back later to see you?”

Ranita was so dizzy from the kisses that she could only manage a soft hum. By the time she came to her senses, Brendon had already left.
