Chapter 6
Chapter 6
“WHAT? You and Summer’s dad crossed paths again?”Jessica and Qyla asked in a literal synchronous
way when they all got together in the evening at the bar where she used to work.
“Do you really need to be in sync? Sure, say it louder,” she answered the two sarcastically.
The two girls in front of her looked at each other, and when they returned their looks at her, they both
laughed.
“Sorry, we’re just surprised,” Qyla said as she filled her glass with a light alcoholic drink.
Jessica shrugged and did the same thing. She even offered her a drink, which she declined.
“You know, I don’t drink. I told my mother that I’d be home at 10 o’clock. I need to go home before the
clock strikes ten. Summer will look for me,” she said, and took a sip of the soda she was enjoying at
their table.
Qyla nodded and tapped her shoulders while Jessica smiled at her.
“Why?” she asked the two.
“Having a child really matures a person, Sis,” Jessica answered. “You have matured a lot. It seems like
yesterday when we were in high school and you kept saying that you wouldn’t be doing your homework
and you’d just simply imitate our top student.”
“Crazy! Why do you have to remind me of that?” Lyzza laughed.
“But, going back to the ‘mysterious stranger’ who’s the father of our godchild.” She even did the
apostrophe sign in the air using her hand when she said the word, “mysterious stranger”. “Why did you
guys meet? Where and how? And what’s your reaction and his reaction?”
“One question at a time, please,” she complained.
She just laughed and leaned her back against the couch. They were in one of the VIP rooms located
on the 2nd floor of the bar. The place was quiet compared to the 1st floor of the building, where the
dance floor was open to everybody who wanted to dance. Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.
As usual, even though it was just half-past eight in the evening, the bar was crowded with customers
already. It was filled with teenagers that didn’t seem to be minors at this point in time and students who
wanted to have fun for the meantime.
“He is the owner of Vesarius Airlines,” she started.
The two stopped themselves from leaning in their seats as if they had heard exceedingly exciting news.
“Wait,” said Jessica, who stared at the ceiling as if she was trying to remember something. “You said
Gideon was his name, right?”
She nodded. Maybe she knew him.
“So you mean, Gideon Vesarius is Summer’s father?” she asked, her eyes wide open.
She nodded reluctantly while trying to figure out the two girls who looked like they were about to jump
at her from their seats.
“You know him?”
She shook her head, but her wide smile still remained on her lips. “Not really, but I have met him
already. He’s Ali’s best friend,” she responded. The Ali Jessica was referring to was her older sibling’s
so-called ‘friend’.
“Friend, that guy is drop-dead gorgeous too, like Ali. If only my instincts didn’t say that my sister is just
being in-denial when it comes to her feelings, oh my! I could’ve stolen him a long time ago.”
Lyzza frowned because of Jessica’s dreamy expression. It was pretty obvious that she had a crush on
that Alejandro Almeradez guy.
“Going back,” she continued. “You’re already aware that I want to do my on-the-job training at Vesarius
Airlines, right? It will significantly impact my resume, and a bright future awaits the people who get
accepted there.”
She pouted and grabbed her soda at the table, taking a sip as she remembered what happened earlier.
“But sad to say, he is the owner. He knows my secret. He didn’t even bother to give me a chance to
prove why I deserved to train in his company. As a matter of fact,” she trailed off and swallowed, almost
wanting to cry. “Who would even want an employee who sold herself in exchange for money?”
“Hey, don’t say that,” Qyla debated, but with much concern.
“Did he say straight to your face that he wouldn’t accept you because of what you did? Fuck! He must
be stupid!” Jessica’s annoyingly responded as if she wasn’t a pre-school teacher and acted like a
woman from the A****n.
“No.” She barely laughed, which resulted in her friends calming down for a bit. “He just didn’t give me a
chance. After he kissed me, he said I’m done.”
For how many times already during that day, Gideon’s passionate kisses crossed her mind all over
again, making her heart sink in the depth of waters.
“What?!” Qyla and Jessica asked in unison. “He kissed you?”
She froze in front of her friends. Did she really say that?
Heck! Yes, she really said that and they would definitely bombard her with more questions for sure!
“Did you respond? Did anything else happen after that? Was he a good kisser?”
Just as she expected!
In the end, she had no other choice but to share everything that happened. These two girls were her
best friends. They were with her during her darkest and most challenging days. In fact, these two knew
the truth about the real identity of her child. There was no reason for her to keep things from them.
“Will you tell him the truth about Summer?” Qyla asked.
She sighed. It was the same thought that sat on her mind while she was at Vesarius Airlines’ cafeteria.
“I don’t know. He is powerful and rich. I don’t know if it’s right for me to let Summer meet him.”
She had no idea if he would accept his own child. Knowing that her daughter was a product of one
night full of lust. Not even an ounce of love was present between them during that night. Gideon was
full of lust, and she was after the money she’d get from him that time.
Nothing more, nothing less. It was all pure business.
The thought of his reaction and his words once he met Summer scared Lyzza. She couldn’t bear to see
her daughter hurting. She didn’t want her daughter to feel like she was unwanted at a very young age.
She didn’t even know if this man was married or had kids. His family’s situation might get messy once
she spills the truth about Summer. Didn’t he say he was already thirty-three?
With his looks and money, it was impossible that he was single.
“But you know, it’s his right to know who Summer is since he’s the dad, right?” Jessica cut in. She was
serious this time. Far from her giggling attitude a while ago.
“Yes. Just like what Mom told me, whatever happens, he’s still Summer’s dad. But, I’m just scared for
my baby. I don’t want to make her feel unwanted. She’s too young. What if her dad dislikes her?”
“We understand you,” said Qyla as she moved closer to a seat beside her. Jessica did the same thing.
She was now sitting between the two. “But you will not get the answers to your questions, and what if’s, if you won’t try. And you know, no secret could remain a secret indefinitely.”
“We don’t want to see Summer get hurt too. That kid’s like a daughter to us. We watched her grow. But
isn’t it better to let her know the truth before it’s too late? Sooner or later, she will look for her daddy for
sure.”
“She did last week,” she said while massaging her head, thinking of Gideon’s photograph that she got
from his wallet that he left on the hotel’s couch.
“See? But whatever your decision is, we will respect and support you.”
She smiled at them, almost teary-eyed. Whenever they would have these kinds of girl best friend
moments, it would always end up being the best.
