CHAPTER 152
The moment Harriette stood on her toes, I should’ve known what she was up to but I didn’t expect it. Nothing prepared me for the moment when she slammed her lips against mine. My eyes went wide as it took my brain a few seconds to recognize what was happening.
I froze. The world around me froze as well. I couldn’t even blink. She threw her arms around my neck and deepened the kiss. It took me a little over five seconds to recover. I closed my eyes and kissed her back.
To hell with all my convictions and self–absorbed rules. I wanted that moment like it was dear life and I would take it mine.
I placed my hand on the small of her back and pulled her body closer to me. I took the lead from her and kissed her better.
The kiss was fast and quick but the feel of her skin against mine almost made me lose my senses.
She moaned and that undid something in my head. I grabbed her closer to my body, placed my hand beneath her butt, and lifted her in my arm.
She quickly tangled her leg around my waist. I moved us from the door to the table at the corner of the room. I pushed everything to the back including files and maybe my laptop.
Fuck! I wasn’t thinking straight. How was I supposed to think straight when my mate was right there in my arms? The same person I never wanted to have anything to do with.
She was like a forbidden fruit but that didn’t stop me.
I placed her on the table. I removed my mouth from hers to stare into her eyes. Something was different about her at that moment but I couldn’t point it out. I held her chin and kissed her again. She kissed me back just as much as I wanted her to.
No, scratch that, as much as I needed her to. It was as though that moment was ours and only the two of us existed in the world.
I moved my lips to her cheeks and trailed down till I got to her neck. She held onto my arms and I could feel her fingers digging into my flesh.
“Rowan,” she moaned. That motivated me to suck, bite, and lick that part of her neck that I would love to mark.
*Mark her,* Thorne charged through my head.
I ignored him. I was in control and there was no way I would lose control to him. Not at a moment like this. Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.
*You fucking coward, mark her,*
I pushed him to the back of my head and kissed Harriette again.
“Stop,
It came as a mumble at first. I thought maybe it was in my head. Maybe it was Thorne playing games with me.
Harriette grabbed my arm more tightly as if I was hurting her. That was my undoing. I stopped kissing her delicious lips and moved back.
“Stop,” she said again, letting out a deep breath. Lalso did the same. I didn’t realize I’d been holding my breath until I let her go.
What was the first voice I heard? Was it her or someone else?
When I looked back at Harriette again, she was a fucking sight to behold. She was flushed and she had her eyes everywhere except on me. She was shy. I licked my bottom lips as I stared at her again.
I smirked.

Chapter 152
She was a beautiful mess. I would pay anything to have my mate in my arms tonight. Preferably in my bed, but she was clueless about the fact that we were mates and then, she didn’t want to.
I wasn’t Thorne. I don’t force people to do what they don’t want to do.
*You don’t talk like that about the same Thorne who dragged you out of that hellhole,* He growled in my head. He was probably still pissed that I didn’t mark Harriette.
Since the last episode I had with Thorne, I’d minimized our conversations and the access he had to our mindlink. But anytime Harriette was near, he would charge in like the fucking bastard that he was.
“Wait here,” I told Harriette. I went to the room and came out with sweatpants and a top.
“What’s this?” She asked, finally looking up at me.
“Change into those before leaving,” I commanded.
There was no way I would let her leave my house all wet and with transparent clothes like that. I would gouge out the eyes of any man who looked at her in that state.
“Thank you,”
I nodded. She was a bit reluctant at first. I raised an eyebrow and she asked me to turn around. I shrugged but I obeyed. “Did Thorne ask you for any special favor?” I asked her. Thorne was notoriously known for making stupid requests whenever he was in charge of my body. It was either he asked for me to be killed or for the Werewolf King to be killed.
“What?”
“When you met with my wolf, did he ask you to do anything?” I asked again.
The last thing I remembered that day was lying on the floor of my office before I lost consciousness. When I regained control of my body, I was in a car with Harriette, her voice breaking through the fog as she yelled my name, begging me to come back. Before I could fully grasp what was happening, the car veered and slammed into the mountainside. Somehow, I managed to pull both Harriette and myself from the wreckage.
I still don’t know how she did it but somehow, she brought me back without Thorne having to sleep.
“No, no, he didn’t ask me for anything,” She answered.
She was probably lying. “Don’t take him too seriously,”
“Okay,”
Suddenly, heard a sharp object drop to the floor right in front of me. It was a silver knife. I was a hundred percent sure it dropped from Harriette.
The fact that she had a knife wasn’t bothering or concerning. She was a hunter, it would be more weird if she didn’t have a knife but the symbol on the handle was what bothered me most. It looked ancient and it gave an impression of a dark power.
“That’s mine. I only brought it here because I usually take it around,”
Harriette quickly explained.
I hummed. I walked back to the table, brought out my phone, and took a picture of the symbol.
I gave her back the knife and right in front of my eyes, Harriette dashed out of the room through the front door,
I chuckled. It was a sight to behold.
I dragged my eyes away from the door and looked at the symbol on my phone again and again. It looked strangely familiar but I couldn’t remember where I saw that symbol. I should look into it.
My phone started ringing. A call came through from one of the men I sent to confirm Harriette’s story.
“Any updates?” I asked as I took the call.

“It’s all bullshit, Alpha Rowan. There’s no pack called Snowmoon Shadow Pack. Whoever told you there was a pack like that must’ve been lying,”
The cat has finally been let out of the bag.
