Chapter 1410
Colby always said he needed time. Yet, he never gave her a straight answer. Just because she didn't ask, didn't mean she wasn't curious. Odie and Colby had worked together before, so Odie probably knew as much as Griffin. She was sure Odie knew something. "How would I know what secrets he's keeping from you?" Odie said, flicking away his cigarette. "If you really want to know, you should just ask him yourself."
Sophie stayed quiet for a moment. In the rearview mirror, Odie saw her looking down and couldn't resist teasing her, "What, are you thinking of switching because Colby isn't treating you right?"
"What nonsense are you talking about?" Sophie snapped, her brows knitting together. "I'd rather die than switch!"
Odie chuckled, leaning against the window. "If that's how you feel, why stress about secrets? You're important to Colby, isn't that enough? Honestly, he's never treated any woman as well as he treats you. You're the only one."
Sophie leaned back in her seat. "It's not that I care about the secret itself. I'm just worried... it might cause a fight someday, and that makes me uneasy."
"You're overthinking it." Odie reassured her. "If Colby wants to keep it a secret, he can do so forever. But if he decides to tell you, he will. He hates seeing you upset."
Odie's words gave Sophie some relief. After all, who doesn't have secrets? Just like Sophie couldn't quite explain her rebirth to Colby.
"Thanks for the advice, Mr. Odie. It's been really helpful."
"I'm not giving advice," Odie said casually. "You should focus on where to hold the celebration. With so many people, watch out or they'll eat you out of house and home." Sophie laughed. She'd already picked out the spot for the dinner.
As night felt, six luxury cars were a dazzling sight on the road. Jenna floored the gas pedal, making Adler shiver in the passenger seat, "Jenna! We don't need to go all out! Can't you slow down a bit?"
"No way! There's no chance I'm losing to that little upstart, Elodie!"NôvelDrama.Org holds © this.
"But Ms. Reeves drives like the wind!"
Jenna glanced at Elodie in the lane next to them, noticing her ease behind the wheel, and pushed the pedal even harder. Adler, panicked, shouted, "For crying out loud! We're gonna get a ticket!"
Behind them, Booker drove smoothly as Reece instructed, "Booker, keep it at seventy-five and pass on the left."
"Got it, Mr. Reece." Booker's driving was rock solid.
Jonah, in the car behind, frowned, "Boss, they're speeding up. Should we go faster?"
"How dull," Odie said dismissively, then ordered sharply, "Floor it."
"That's speeding."
"Let it be. I've got points to spare."
Meanwhile, Harold smoothly
overtook another car with a steady
hand. Up front, Colby kept his cool
behind the wheel, with Sophie
glancing in the mirror and asking, "What are they up to? Looks like race." .
