My Mute Wife

Chapter 79 10 Million, Sign the Divorce Papers

“That’s Mrs. Howard’s car?”Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.

Following Alan’s gaze, Jack blurted out.

Nightfall.

Lexie handed the car keys to the maid to park the car and headed to the house on her own.

“Mrs. Howard, you are back, dinner is almost ready.”

[No, I’ve eaten.]

Lexie gave a polite nod and went back to her bedroom.

She turned her phone on and checked the weather forecast several times with different apps, and so far there was no sign of rain until next week, but it wasn’t certain.

After a simple wash, Lexie came out with her hair rubbed, and when she saw the canvas bag that was casually placed on the sofa, she paused, and after thinking about it, she went to get her medicine out and took it.

Alan came every night, so she took medicine just in case.

Late in the night, Lexie was drifting off to sleep when she felt an ‘invasion’ of a man under the covers, not knowing when the smell of men had become somewhat familiar to her, even habitual.

“Asleep?”

A low voice came from behind her.

Lexie didn’t open her eyes, partly because she was too sleepy, and partly because those fears she had of Alan seemed to have dissipated in the dead of night.

Alan looked at the woman on the pillow, his eyes dark and unpredictable.

From the moment he entered, his face had been somber.

“The butler said you went out today?”

The woman on the pillow moved her head lazily in response.

“Where did you go?”

This questioning tone caused Lexie’s heart to suddenly stutter.

When the large hand probed along the edge of her nightgown, the slightly cool touch made her jolt awake.

Lexie tried to turn around, but her shoulder was grabbed.

She exclaimed, making a somewhat hoarse, low sound.

The moonlight from the window shone on her face, and before she could snap back to her sense, her pupils contracted violently, painful sound spilled from her throat, and the halo of light before her began to shake wildly.

The dark green silk texture of the quilt slid off as it shifted, the moonlight shining on the man and woman who had melted into one.

This familiar sensation stirred up all of the woman’s senses, pain and pleasure tangled together, she wanted to scream and shout but couldn’t make too much noise, she was drenched all over.

Not knowing how long it took, but the sound of the man’s dull breathing came from behind her ears, and her long hair was grabbed, assaulting her with a sharp pain, and Lexie jerked her neck up at once, forced to climb to the top pleasure.

The sound of ‘clattering’ water came from the bathroom.

A moment later, the sound of the water stopped.

Lexie immediately closed her eyes, and if the light was on at this moment, it could be seen that her face blushed.

There was the sound of rustling fabric rubbing in the house.

An eerie silence fell over the large bedroom as a ‘click’ of a door closing sounded.

It was a while before Lexie dared to open her eyes.

She embraced the covers and climbed up, but all she saw was an empty room, and Alan was gone.

There seemed to be something strange about Alan today.

In mid-August, temperatures began to fall back.

The length of time that Stanley was out for his walks also gradually lengthened.

“Mr. Alan hasn’t been here for the past two days, and I don’t know what’s going on.”

Stanley was on crutches, playing with two walnuts in his other hand, and said with an air of calmness, “From which day on he didn’t come?”

“Three days ago, that night Mr. Alan came and then left in a hurry, without spending the night.”

“That was for three days.”

“Yes,” the butler assisted the old man towards the bridge, “And Mr. Alan hasn’t stayed home for the past three days, he’s slept at the office, and doesn’t look like he’s in a good mood.”

Stanley’s face changed, and he took a deep breath and exhaled slowly, visibly unhappy.

“What’s wrong? Don’t you not want Mr. Alan to have contact with his wife? Isn’t it just as you wished that Mr. Alan has been absent for so many days and is preoccupied with his work?”

“You think he’s not coming for work?” Stanley snorted coldly, “Still young and vigorous, but not clam enough.”

“Well, it’s time to ask her to come to the study.”

The butler was slightly stunned, “Yes.”

Lexie was called to the old man’s study, for the first time since she had ever lived in the mountain.

A large desk separated Stanley and Lexie.

“Here’s the check for ten million and the divorce paper.”

A document was slowly pushed in front of Lexie.

She was slightly stunned, [You want me to sign it?]

“You and Alan don’t fit, and you don’t want to stay at Howard’s, do you?”

Lexie stared at the agreement for a long time and suddenly raised her head, [It’s not the first time you’ve asked me to leave the Howard family, why do you think I’ll agree this time?]

“At that time you just arrived at the Howard family, it’s normal that you can’t see the situation clearly, but now that so much time has passed, you should understand.”

Stanley looked at her with eyes that were clearly calm, but they were filled with indifference, “Although you can’t speak, you should be an understanding person.”

Lexie subconsciously clenched her fingers.

Later, she signed the agreement.

Stanley hadn’t actually given her the right to choose, and the first day’s punishment of kneeling in the ancestral hall had already told her that in the Howard family no one could disobey his decisions.

The following day, Howard Group.

“Mr. Alan, Mr. Stanley had this sent to you.”

Alan looked up from his computer and flipped through the first page of the folder, his eyes contacted slightly and he casually tossed it aside, “Don’t worry about it, I’ll explain it to grandpa later.”

“Not just this, but a video.”

Saying that, Jack handed over his own phone.

Alan frowned, and with a tap of his fingertips, the video began to play.

Stanley’s voice was the first to ring out, “Here’s the check for ten million and the divorce paper.”

“…”

Seeing the final image of Lexie signing, Alan’s face sank steeply, picking up the folder he’d tossed aside and flipping straight to the last page.

The signature was clear, reflected in his dark eyes.

Jack said, “Mr. Alan, in fact, Mrs. Howard may not be voluntary, and she may not want the ten million, Mr. Stanley…”

As if he hadn’t heard Jack, Alan took out his phone and opened a special software, saw radar-like red dots moving along the arterial roads of downtown J City.

Would she have been so eager to leave the resort and run out the door if she hadn’t volunteered?

“Mr. Alan, where are you going? You have a dinner party to attend in the evening.”

“…”

Lexie had asked Flora and Myles to meet her at the usual place.

Flora said, “The latest news from the Meteorological Bureau, the day after tomorrow is to have a storm, and without incident, this will be the last big storm of the summer.”

“I’ll meet you at the accident site, don’t be afraid.”

Lexie nodded and took out a wooden box from the bag she had with her and handed it to Myles, [Please keep this for me, it’s the relic my mother left me and the only thing I have to take with me.]

“Don’t worry, I’ll keep it safe for you.”

As he was talking, Lexie’s phone suddenly vibrated and a new message alert popped up.

The moment she saw the message, Lexie’s heart thudded and tightened violently.

“You went out? Where are you now?”
