My Darling, My Dearest

Chapter 450 Please Don't Send Me Away

Chapter 450 Please Don't Send Me Away

Rachel said faintly, "You very well know what I am talking about, Lea."

After a long while, Lea sighed and said in a low voice, "Let's talk about it later. Now your priority is your health."

Lea had to leave since she was pregnant too. Once she was sure Rachel was fine, she left. Jack came in again and stayed by her bed for the whole night.

Rachel didn't manage to have a peaceful sleep. She wanted to forget all about that incident. However, the second she closed her eyes, it would pop up before her eyes.

Fear was like a net, not letting her get out of its grasp.

With all these nightmares, she had a dreadful time trying to sleep. Once the nightmare would clutch her, she had difficulty waking up. By now, beads of sweat had formed on her face. Looking at Jack who sat nearby, she felt even more uncomfortable.

'Why did a good relationship have to turn out like this?' she thought, feeling intense sadness.

She swallowed the bile that formed up and hesitated for a few seconds. Clearing her throat, she said, "Jack, we should break up peacefully."

Jack, who had dozed off, wiped his face and sat up straight. "Finally you are awake! Are you hungry now? I'm going to bring a towel and wipe your face. Julie will bring breakfast soon."

One could easily tell he was avoiding speaking about divorce.

Rachel lowered her eyes and said nothing.

After a while, Jack came over with a towel in his hand. Rachel wanted to wipe it by herself, but he insisted he would do it. "It's not convenient for you. Let me take care of you," he said.

With the towel, he wiped her forehead and went to her eyes. Slowly, it slid on her cheeks. His movements were extremely gentle, as if Rachel was a porcelain doll that would be broken if he hadn't been careful.

Then he wiped her hands and put them on his face. "Rachel, give me another chance to take care of you, okay?"

After all these things, he finally realized it was Rachel he treasured the most.

He had lost all his desire to possess. All he wanted was to love her. His pride has faded and he wished to live happily with Rachel and their baby.

Rachel struggled to make him realize their relationship was useless. But he wouldn't listen. However, deep down, she felt sad for him. Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.

'Should I give him one last chance?' she thought.

In the end, she decided against it.

After everything that happened, she wasn't confident it wouldn't repeat. And if he hurt her again, her life would be even more miserable. She didn't know she could bear the pain.

After a while, she said in a flat voice, "Let's talk about it later. I'm a little tired and want to take rest."

Jack knew this was just an excuse to avoid this topic. But what could he do? Nothing. It was all his fault. Nodding his head, he pulled the quilt over her body. "I will be here. If you ever need something, just call me."

Julie brought some porridge and a bowl of chicken soup with her. In spite of not having had anything for a whole day, Rachel wasn't hungry. It was like she had lost her appetite. She forced herself to eat a few mouthfuls. Suddenly she felt a little uncomfortable in her stomach. Putting down the spoon, she tried to relax herself.

Her gaze fell on Jack, who was now staring at her with concern. His presence was a disturbance to her. "Julie is here to take care of me. I think you should go back."

"Okay." Jack nodded and didn't resist this time. Moreover, he had something to sort with back in his place. It wasn't right to be here without managing that.

Squatting on the floor in front of the sofa, Scarlett kept trembling. Her hair was carelessly scattered on her shoulders, making her look like a crazy woman. She was losing her mind.

She had sat in this position for about an hour. But when she heard the door open, she stood up in a hurry and walked up. "Jack, are you back?" she asked, unable to hide her relief.

Footsteps came from afar and soon it was near. Jack, dressed in black, had a fierce look that complemented his outfit. He stared at her with his eagle-like eyes, and his whole body seemed to emanate with hatred. Cutting to the chase, he said, "Scarlett, what the hell do you want?"

Scarlett wasn't scared of him. With a grim plastered on her face, she tilted her head and said innocently, "I want you here. Now that you are here, I want nothing, Jack."

Looking at her ecstasy, Jack squinted and asked, "Have you forgotten the agreement?"

"Of course, I remember it. But we are human beings after all. I have developed feelings for you." Scarlett walked towards him, biting her lips. "I love you, Jack. I love you so much."

Jack looked at her distastefully. There was a bloodthirsty fierceness in his obsidian-like eyes. But beneath it, there was also regret. He knew he had wronged her. If he hadn't thought used Scarlett to

irritate Rachel, none of this would have happened.

He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. After a few seconds, he opened his eyes and announced, "Rachel is my wife!" His sharp words cut through her.

Her face turned pale and desperate. "If she is your wife, then what am I?"

"From the beginning, our relationship is just about money. I think I have given you enough money," Jack said coldly, wanting to wrap this up as soon as possible.

Seeing the obvious disgust in his eyes, Scarlett couldn't help but feel hurt. She took two steps back, shook her head and said in a trembling voice, "No, it's not like that. Jack, in fact, you also have feelings for me. If you didn't, why weren't you angry with me after I used your money? If you didn't love me, why did you live with me?" By now, she was screaming.

"Live with you?" Jack sneered. "You sleep in one room and I sleep in another. How can you make this sound romantic?"

He turned around, ignoring Scarlett's pale face, and continued, "And the money I gave you is nothing but commission. Of course, you were free to use it the way you want. After all, I owed it to you for your favor."

'Commission?' Scarlett thought and laughed bitterly.

"So am I nothing but a servant to you?"

Without any hesitation, Jack said, "Yes, something like that!"

He took out a ticket from his pocket and threw it on the floor. "The plane will take off at six o'clock in the evening. Get ready and go. I will arrange someone to pick you up. Don't appear in Ninwell City ever again."

"Where am I going? Jack, where do you want me to go?" Panic was written all over Scarlett's face. She picked up the ticket that lay on the floor and began to read. Once it registered, her face was flooded with disbelief. "Jack, how can you let me go there? How can you let me go so far?"

Even by plane, it would take more than ten hours.

That place was desolate and terrible! She couldn't conceal her fear.

Seeing the sudden change in her demeanor, Jack pinched her chin and said, "So now are you frightened? Why didn't you think about the consequences when you went to see Rachel yesterday?"

"I know it was wrong. I promise to never see her again. Jack, don't make me leave Ninwell City. Please don't do this to me." That place was a nightmare. She had heard nothing but horrible news about it. Rape and theft happened on a daily basis.

Women were stripped off their rights while they lived there.

Until this moment, Scarlett didn't know what real fear was. As soon as she saw the ticket, she felt like her life was over. Closing her eyes, she remained on the floor motionless.

After what felt like hours, Scarlett looked up at Jack with her horror-stricken eyes. "Jack, I promise that I won't go to see Rachel again. Don't send me away, okay? I beg you."

Jack raised his hand to look at his watch and said indifferently, "I have to go and meet Rachel now. I don't have time for your nonsense. If you don't want to go there, just wait for someone who will marry you. As for who that person will be, believe me, you won't want to know."

A hint of cruelty swept through his face. He paused for a moment, but soon turned around and left.

He knew he was being hard on Scarlett. But after she threatened Rachel and her baby, he couldn't take any risk. If she continued to live in Ninwell City, it would be dangerous. He wanted her a safe distance away from them.

Even if her threats were meaningless, he didn't care. At this point of this life, he couldn't let anything happen to Rachel and the baby. After Jack left the ward, Rachel felt much better. She fell asleep and didn't wake up until the doctor came to the ward.

The doctor checked her and said with a smile, "Rachel, don't worry. Your baby is fine and your condition is stable too."

"Can I go home then?" Rachel didn't feel comfortable in this bed.

"Of course you can. After we go through a few formalities, you can leave. It will only take minutes." The doctor bowed his head and wrote on the medical record. Then he turned around and left.

Now that the doctor had given her an affirmative answer, Rachel turned to Julie. She requested her to pack her things and went to get changed.

The clothes she wore the day before were stained with blood and had already been dispensed into the trash can by Jack.

As Julie packed her luggage, she asked uneasily, "Miss, do we need to call Mr. Fu and tell him that we are leaving?"

"No, that won't be required," said Rachel in a resolute voice.

After dealing with Scarlett's matter, Jack rushed back to the hospital. Once he reached there, he noticed they were gone. Now a nurse was changing the bed sheet. He frowned and asked, "Where is the patient?" "She has been discharged," the nurse answered him without raising her head.

Jack hurriedly turned around and left. But when he was waiting for the elevator, a thought entered his mind. His concern for Rachel forced him to meet the doctor. "Doctor, I'm sorry to bother you but I have a question. I'm Rachel's husband. Is there anything she has to pay special attention to at home?"

"Achoo..."

Rachel sneezed, her nose starting to feel like a little itchy. After this, she sneezed three more times in a row. Julie, who had been busily taking things to the room, came to an abrupt halt. Putting them on the floor, she rushed to the kitchen and filled a glass with hot water. "Miss, did you catch a cold? Drink some hot water, that will help."

Seeing how concerned Julie was, Rachel flashed her a smile. She motioned for Julie to sit near her. "I'm fine. I just have an itchy nose. You don't have to worry. These are quite common. I don't like to see you worry over small matters"
