Chapter 24 Misunderstanding
Chapter 24 Misunderstanding
Baron looked so honesty and his eyes were full of love.
For such a romantic proposal, any other girl would accept it. However, this girl was an exceptional one.
After a while, Tracy calmed down, and looked complicatedly at Baron, “I am sorry!”
“I understood!” Baron said, smiling bitterly. At this moment, he was overwhelmed by tremendous pains.
It was more painful than his heart being shot by a bullet.
Looking at the distressed Baron, Tracy also felt upset. She stepped forward, bended slightly over, and
pulled him up.
“Baron, I hope you can understand that the reason I was with you was not because of love but our
daughter.” Tracy said gently, looking into Baron’s eyes.
“For now, I can’t accept you, but it doesn’t mean I won’t accept you in the future. You won’t give up, will
you?”
Baron was still overwhelmed by sorrows as Tracy started speaking, but he was delighted as she
finished the sentence.
“I won’t give up!”
Baron said in excitement, “I can wait until the day you are willing to accept me.”
Tracy then felt relaxed. She was struggling with herself when she saw Baron kneeling down. Her heart
was melted, but the reason in her mind told her that it was just being touched, and they had no feelings
of love except the night they got married five years ago.
At the same time, in the coffee shop across the street.
Edward was standing in front of a huge glass window, eyeing on everything that was happening in the
Starry Garden hotel, and felt extremely emotional.
“Mr. Lewis, here they come.” The driver said and left quietly.
Edward turned around, and saw a woman of middle age approaching. She said, with her hand
stretching out, “Father-in-law, how is everything!”
“How’s it going!”
Edward nodded politely, smiling, and spoke, “You are Mrs. Sherry, Tracy’s mom, aren’t you?”
Sherry hastily pulled Yuri next to her over, and said happily, “I am Sherry, Yuri’s mom.”
This was the first time Sherry had met Edward in person. She kept grinning, for she was so surprised
by Edward’s courtesy.
“Father-in-law, we will be a family in the future. So, don’t be so courteous.” Sherry said, looking
pleasant.
Edward thought he might mishear just now when hearing father-in-law, and now again he heard it, he
was confused, “Mrs. Sherry, how come you call me father-in-law?”
Sherry reckoned she might act to eagerly, so she held Yuri’s hand and said, “You are Yuri’s father-in-
law after she marries your son, aren’t you? If you thought it might be too early to call you that way, I will
call you Mr. Lewis, and after their wedding…”
“Hold on!”
Edward interrupted Sherry, with a bewildered look, “Mrs. Sherry, is there any misunderstanding?”
“No! You sent betrothal gifts to us, didn’t you? I had discussed with Terry, and we were pleased to this
marriage.”
Edward understood immediately and explained, “Mrs. Sherry, you misunderstood. The betrothal gifts
were for Tracy.”
“What?” Sherry stunned, with eyes wide open.
Yuri was also shocked, for she had been picturing the life after marrying into a wealthy family, when
she received betrothal gifts from Lewis Clan before. Till now, she realized those gifts were not for her,
and she felt terribly sad.
Sherry then turned into embarrassment, “Well. It’s same. They are all for my daughter. You don’t worry
about Tracy’s previous marriage. I will ask her to get divorced tomorrow.”
Edward was terrified, with his face turning pale. He immediately said. “Mrs. Sherry, please don’t. I think
Mr. Owen and Mrs. Perry are a perfect couple. They were born to be a couple. You must not get them
divorced.”
“Mr. Lewis, what do you mean? You just said those betrothal gifts were for Tracy, didn’t you? How
come she is not allowed to get divorced? If she was still married, how could she marry into Lewis
Clan?” Sherry doubted.
Edward didn’t know Baron’s position in his family. Edward wanted to show friendliness to him, but
Baron didn’t take it. So, he made an outflanking tactic to obtain trust from his wife and family.”
Edward almost disclosed who Baron was, which made himself sweat.
He wiped off the sweat on the forehead, and said, “Mrs. Sherry, you misunderstood me. I have two
daughters, and no son.”
“What?”
Sherry instantly bounced up. She was so pleasant after she learned that Edward’s son had fell in love
with Yuri. And now she knew Edward had no son.
She was so disappointed and asked, “And what was the point of Lewis Clan sending us betrothal
gifts?”
Sherry raged, for she thought she was fooled.
Edward suddenly thought of an excuse, and replied at once, “Mrs. Sherry, you must misunderstand, for
the gifts were not for marriage but for appreciation, to thank your son-in-law.”
“To thank my son-in-law? You mean, Baron?” Sherry’s eyes were full of doubts.
Edward nodded, “Yes, it was for Baron. He helped Lewis Clan before. So, I sent those lavish gifts to
show our gratitude. I am sorry if any convenience occurred because of that.”
Edward thought to himself, ‘Without the help of Owen Clan, Lewis Clan wouldn’t be so wealthy for
today, and Baron was the heir of Owen Clan. It was fair enough to do so, wasn’t it?’
Yuri was still in sadness. She muttered, with a bitter smile, “I see. It was just my own fantasy.”
And then, she turned to the glass window, and looked up to the sky. The swirling rose petals and the
superb fireworks in the air made her envious.
At night, Tracy just came home.
Sherry pulled her over, “Tracy, today is your wedding anniversary with Baron, and he didn’t prepare any
gift for you, did he?”© NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
It reminded Tracy of everything happened at the Starry Garden Hotel. A faint of smile passed over on
her face.
“What are you smiling for?” Sherry was irritated as Tracy kept silent.
Tracy reluctantly said, “Mom, you want me to divorce Baron, don’t you? And now you want us to live as
a couple again?”
Sherry took an anger glance at Tracy and said, “Don’t you remember those gifts sent by Lewis Clan
two weeks ago?”
Tracy asked enquiringly, “You told me that those things were betrothal gifts for Yuri, didn’t you?”
“No. We are mistaken. Those things were to express gratitude to Baron for he had helped Lewis Clan.
How could it be possible?” Sherry highly doubted.
“Mom, what exactly do you want me to understand?” Tracy asked quickly.
“If Baron really had helped Lewis Clan, he must have a handful of money in hand now, which was
supposed to be a marital property, and you should take half of it. You call him now and sort out the
division of poverty thing; otherwise you tell him you will sue him for that.” Sherry’s eyes were glowed as
if she had become rich already.
