Bet with the Mafia(2)
“I’ll give it back to you if you can help me trace Bree Mondragon’s whereabouts for the past year. And if she has ever shipped things to the South and if she received something from the capital. I want names, Don.”
The man raised his eyebrows then grinned. “Uncovering the Mondragon’s transaction with someone in the capital will cost me a lot. Won’t it be a shame to bet only MY token?”
The corner of her lips twitched and she sighed. “Fine, take this,” she said then placed a calling card on the center table. “It’s a membership to Code X’s secret website. If you don’t know Code X, you can ask around. They know who that person is.”
The man held out the calling card and stared at it. After a while he laughed with joy. “So Doctor Acinea and that infamous Code X are somewhat related? How interesting,” he said.
Jenica didn’t comment anymore and left first. She promised the man that she would return the next day for his information.
Jenica stood under the full moon and looked up at the sky. Stars couldn’t be seen because of the bright moon hanging above. The wind blew and danced her loose hair.
“Things are getting complicated,” she whispered into the air.
Since there’s no visible connection between Mondragon and Jared, she cannot use HQ’s resources to investigate Bree Mondragon’s connection to the capital. But maybe it’s a good thing because HQ won’t know that she’s secretly looking for her missing son.
She’s not comfortable involving her personal matters in the mission. And now that she had a lead on where Sham was, the thorn in her heart lessened.
And after finding her son, it’s time to fulfill her revenge.
But… What is Alex doing?
It’s been months since she asked him to find Sham but he’s not sending her clues where the child is. She held that small hope for Alex but as day passed by, her trust in the man is decreasing. Or it might be Alex didn’t believe her in the first place and just gave her false hope? Is he fooling her?
Jenica clenched her fist. Next month, she will go to the Fuegos’ mansion to talk to the man. And might check what’s happening with that damn bastard and that Gia Antonete.
She already had the evidence against Antonete and Mondragon, and was just waiting for the information from the Mafia Don.
So the next day, she went early to the Mafia Don’s den and saw him frowning while reading the paper on his hand.
“What’s the matter?” she asked and sat opposite him.
The man handed her the paper and looked straight into her eyes. “My men reported that someone from the capital indeed shipped something to Laguna which Bree Mondragon accepted. And the woman shipped that thing out of this town and onto the South.”
“Yes, Bree is indeed telling the truth,” she said as she looked over the information written on the paper. After a while, Jenica frowned. “But what’s the matter with these censored names? Didn’t I ask you to give me the names of the one behind Bree Mondragon?”
“Those names are indeed the ones who instigated Bree Mondragon.” The man sighed. “But do you know who are those bastards behind that woman?”
Jenica raised her eyebrows. “It seems like they have complicated background.”
“Of course. Those men are part of a mafia organization in the capital.”
“What?” Jenica asked, raising her gaze to the man. “Mafia?”
“Yes. I wonder what is that thing from the capital that made you go after a mafia organization, Doctor Acinea.” The man grinned at her.
Mafia.
Even the HQ’s careful dealing with those organization. The last thing she expected was the mafia organization being involved in her missing son’s case.
But why did those notorious organization have to do with the abduction of her son? Jenica did not offend anyone from that notorious organization after coming back to the country.
She clenched her fist again and looked at the paper. “Just give me names.”
The man gave her the paper with four names written on it. Jenica was not familiar with those names. But while thinking what to do with those names, the man handed over the token that his wife had given her — which she had given back to him. Jenica raised her eyebrows. “What do you mean?”Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
“Take it if you want to go after that mafia. Give me a good show when you return to the capital, Doctor Acinea.”
Jenica stared at the grinning man. A mischievous glint flashed across his eyes which she had caught. She squinted, reaching her hand to get the token back.
She knew that the token was a hot potato that she should discard as soon as possible, but she couldn’t deny that the fact she needed the token especially if she’ll gonna enter the world of the mafias.
When she left the Mafia Don’s turf, she called the assistant. “Release the evidences against Antonete branch and Bree’s immediate family.” Jenica smiled wickedly while roaming her eyes around the place. “My gifts for them,” she whispered before ending the call.
After knowing that Yvette Antonete is the one who caused the death of their Eldest Miss, the Desmana clan won’t let her go. It will be the start of full scale war between those two clans.
On the other hand, Samantha Mondragon won’t let Bree’s immediate family go unpunished upon knowing the truth. The Mondragon clan won’t have a peaceful time for the next years.
It’s the best ending she had in mind for these three clans. Well, she promised Bree she wouldn’t touch her parents, but it doesn’t mean that Samantha won’t do anything.
It’s the same with the Desmana. She wanted to create trouble for those ungrateful hypocrites. Jenica knew the main Antonete branch wouldn’t take it lying down when the branch family would get bullied to the point of tarnishing the reputation of their family names. So there would be a long war between these two big families in Laguna and she would like to know who will emerge victorious in the battle she had prepared for them all.
