Her Return, His Regret

Chapter 113~ Medical file

"That bastard! How dare he mock me?!"

"He's the one who cheated, why should I be the one to avoid him?"

"Fuck you, Noah and that bitch you call your wife!"

Diane screamed at the top of her lungs with her head outside the car window, the night breeze hitting her face as Aiden sped his car through the streets.

He was helping her let out her frustrations by taking a drive around the city.

"I hate you for wasting my time! Don't think I care about you, you're just trash!"

"Don't let me see your ugly face again!"

Diane sat back in her seat, her face flushed from the cold air. She was breathing heavily, her chest rising and falling as she tried to calm down.

All that screaming seemed to have sobered her up and her anger disappeared.

Aiden glanced at her and asked, "Do you feel better now?"

"Yeah... it feels good to let it out of my chest. I don't know why I just froze when I met them... I should have given them a piece of my mind," Diane remarked, the memory from a few hours earlier flashing through her mind and making her cringe. ##Flashback to hours earlier##

Diane had been shopping when she bumped into the last people she wanted to see that day.

'Why do I have to bump into this adulterous couple today of all days?' Diane mused.

She hissed and turned around to avoid them, however, a sickening voice reached her ears, making her stop in her tracks.

"Diane, long time. I didn't expect to see you here."

Diane scoffed after hearing the familiar female voice. She turned around to look at the couple, her jaw tight from anger.

The nerve of them to talk to her after what they did.

"Long time? I didn't intend to run into the two of you for the rest of my life," Diane replied, sneering.

Elizabeth Benson, Diane's former best friend, gasped and asked, "Diane, why are you acting like this? You don't still blame Noah and I for what happened, right? We just fell in love... we didn't intend to hurt you."

"Liz, you don't have to explain yourself to her," Noah Thompson, Diane's ex-fiance, said. "I chose to be with you, it's not a crime."

"Oh, Noah... you can't just say that knowing Diane still loves you..." Elizabeth remarked in her sickening sweet voice.

"Well, I don't love her. She just has to accept it and move on," Noah replied. He looked at Diane and stated, "I know you still love and care about me, but move on, Diane. I love Liz... I don't know how you knew we would be coming to this store but stop stalking me. I'm a married man now."

Diane was bereft of any words.

Noah was a narcissist! What made him think she was still in love with him to the point of stalking him?

Quite alright she was hurt by his betrayal, however, that's just what it was. The pain of being betrayed by someone she loved with all her heart was still strong. But she had moved on a long time ago... Noah and Elizabeth were now strangers to her.

"If you follow us again, I will be forced to report you to the police," Noah proclaimed and led Elizabeth away.

By the time Diane came back to her senses, Noah and Elizabeth had already passed and she couldn't miss the mockery in Elizabeth's eyes.Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!

Anger flared through Diane.

Elizabeth used to be her bestie. Her ride or die.

However, Diane's world came crumbling down when she found Elizabeth in bed with Noah on the night before their wedding. They claimed to have fallen in love with each other and were unable to stay away from each other. Diane was hurt big time. This was why she left the country to advance in her studies.

Seeing the two after four years brought back painful memories that she thought she had forgotten.

##End of flashback##

What hurt more was how Diane forgot to respond to Noah's taunting words. They probably thought she had really followed them to the store because she didn't say anything to defend herself.

"Sometimes it's ok to stay silent and let dogs bark, Don't be disturbed by someone as insignificant as that man," Aiden remarked. "He sure is blind if he left you for another. woman... If you were mine, I would never hurt you."

Silence fell over them at Aiden's words.

Diane turned sharply to look at him and they locked eyes briefly.

When the air around them crackled with an electric charge, Aiden cleared his throat and uttered, " mean... you're a beautiful, kind woman. Any man would be lucky to have you."

Diane smiled and replied, "You're quite good at comforting people. Thanks."

"Anytime, neighbour," Aiden replied with a side smirk on his lips.

The next day at the mansion...

Ryan opened his eyes and found Lora glancing down at him worriedly.

His heart raced as he asked, "What's wrong, baby?"

"I should be asking you that... why do you still look pale?" Lora asked, her eyes roaming over Ryan's body.

She glanced at the scars on his arms and her eyebrows furrowed. "The pain should have been mild by now... are you still in intense pain?"

Ryan let out a chuckle and replied, "I'm fine, baby. I just need to take some iron supplements to boost my Hb levels."

"Are you sure you're alright?" Lora asked worriedly. "You looked fine yesterday but now you look pale and you've overslept. That's so unlike you." Ryan cupped Lora's face before leaning up for a kiss.

"I'm very much fine, baby," Ryan replied after pulling away from the hot kiss.

Lora felt lightheaded, the kiss causing butterflies to flutter in her stomach.

"Where are the kids?" Ryan asked when he noticed they were alone.

"They are downstairs with the nannies you hired. Why did you hire so many?" Lora asked helplessly.

"Our children need the best care in the world... come, let's shower quickly before the kids come up," Ryan suggested, carrying Lora to the bathroom.

An hour later, Lora was doing her makeup when a file on the vanity table caught her attention. She picked it up and frowned when she read it.

[Ryan Kingsley's medical file.]

The file was from a different hospital from the one they usually use. Why would Ryan leave the hospital where he had shares and go to another hospital for treatment?

Lora was about to open the file when Ryan's voice came through the door, "Baby, let's go down and have breakfast."

"I'm coming," Lora replied and put the file down, realising she shouldn't be looking through Ryan's medical file unless he wanted her to.

While having breakfast, Ella looked at Ryan and said, "Daddy, will you come to our school PTA meeting? I have a surprise for you."

Ryan glanced at Lora who looked guilty. She remarked, "I'm sorry, I forgot to say. I received a circular last week for parents to attend. We can go together if you won't be busy..." "Busy? Are you kidding me? I'll always make time for our kids," Ryan declared and the children grinned from ear to ear.
