Chapter 78
Denver.
I slowly walked to the door to close it after they had left, my heart was in grief, but I tried assuring myself that I was better off like this.
I after which crashed my back against the door as I couldn’t help but think about how perfect our lives would have been if I had not lost my wolf.
Zeus loved and wanted her right from the moment he first laid his eyes on her.
She was just the perfect thing he needed to regain its sanity, after seeing and doing so much evil in the guise of protecting the pack and honor.
My eyes soon landed on the chair that she had sat on, and I found myself subconsciously walking toward it.
I was a few steps from the chair when the door flunks open, I turned around to see that it was Derrick, and he smelt like trouble.
I would be a liar if I said I wasn’t expecting him or Devon. I hurt their mate, and it was only normal, that they would both be furious at me.
“What are you doing here, get out,” I said coldly to him before he could say anything.
But, he didn’t say anything as I expected, instead, he was coming straight for me with his hand tightly fisted and his face devoid of love.
He was only a few inches from me when I saw his hand go up in the air and landed heavily on my face, breaking my lower l*p. Even though I could have stopped him, I didn’t want to.
I felt I deserved it.
He seemed surprised that I didn’t stop him, and his heart seemed to prick him after seeing a little b***d break out from my lips.
The anger in his eyes liquidated and even though I hate to admit it, I saw love, care, and concern for me.
He walked over to the other side of the room to pick up a paper towel and handed it over to me.
I took it and wiped the warm metallic liquid from my lips before crashing on the chair that Gina once sat on.
“What is wrong with you? Why are you hurting her?” He questioned calmly after some time have passed.
“Didn’t she tell you the reason? I don’t love her,” I said with a deep sigh.
“That’s bullshit, you can lie to her, but don’t you ever think of doing that s**t with me,” Derrick said.
“I am not lying, I was only attracted to her because she was our mate,” I insisted.
“And yet, you f****d her barely a week after she arrived at the palace,” Derrick stated.
“She is hot, what do expect?” I questioned him, trying my best to act as convincingly as possible.
“That would be something that I would say, not you. Denver you have never been someone who wanted to f**k a girl just because she is available or pretty, that was me before now. I knew you had a thing for Gina right from the moment you laid your eyes on her. It was confirmed on the morning after I picked your scent on her, in the dining room. She drives you wild and intoxicates you, she has made you a better person capable of expressing how you feel. Why are you doing this now?” Derrick said, taking his time to say every word, so it sinks in.
I just told you, I was infuriated with you and that is why I did all those things,” I saidThis belongs © NôvelDra/ma.Org.
“And I guess that is the reason you went the extra mine to make sure she accepted to be Gwen’s maid, so she would not be executed,” he questioned.
Thank you for seeing the reasons with me. And even if I say I love her, what would be the point? I am not the person that fell for her. It was Zeus, and he is no longer here to love and protect her as he should. Why is that so difficult to understand, you know I can’t do anything without him. It won’t feel right,” I said to him.
“Look, I don’t know what losing one’s wolf feels like, since I have never been down that road. But one thing I can say is that you should never ruin the beautiful things happening in your life just because of one bad event. If it didn’t kill you, then you shouldn’t let it kill your happiness. Gina knows about your current capabilities and still chooses to stay with you, doesn’t that tell you that she loves you, regardless of what you are going through? I know you think you are doing her right by staying away from her, but are you doing yourself right?” he questioned.
Honestly, I could understand all he was saying, but he seems to forget one thing, and that is the fact that Gina is meant to pick just one of us.
And honestly, I do not want her to pick me, I can’t protect her as an alpha would. Even though I know I would feel the most pain at her rejection, I will be happy afterward knowing that she is in good and safe hands.
Rejecting her first would only make her choosing between my brothers a lot easier.
“As much as I understand what you have said, I am sorry I still do not want her. Tell Father to fix a date for me to openly reject her,” I said, standing up from the chair.
If you are going to reject her, then you leave us with no choice. Devon and I had earlier agreed that whatever you decide is what we are going to do. If you are rejecting Gina as your mate, then we are left with no choice but to do the same,” he said, and from his look, I could tell he was not joking.
“What are you talking about? You both cant reject her, are you trying to kill her or something,” I questioned, partly mad about their dumb decisions.
“It is either we all accept her or we all reject her. And I don’t need to tell Father anything, neither does she have to know. We will all reject her on the day of the marking ceremony,” Derrick said, and before I could stop him, he was out of the door.
I found myself getting restless over what Derrick had just told me. I could tell from his voice that he was not f*****g lying. It was already bad enough that I was losing her to my brothers, I would rather die than let someone else come an inch close to her.
She belongs to my brothers and me, and I will do whatever it takes to see that Derrick and Devon never carry out their threats.

Gina.
I was in my room feeling moody and sad, I had earlier gone to the kitchen to try to cook something to keep my mind away from my pain.
But on getting there, there was already enough food prepared by the palace chef, so I came back to my room.
I thought of going to my parent’s house, but I would rather not saddle them with my worries.
I just needed something to keep my mind busy and away from Denver and the hurtful things he said to me.
After some time of just laying on my bed, I was beginning to feel very sleepy. But I struggled to stay awake, despite not understanding why.
“Hello mistress, I heard Lucia’s voice say from outside the door.
I quickly went to open the door, curious to know if she was truly the one and where she had been this entire time.
On opening the door, I discovered that she was the one, a beautiful smile lighted her face as soon as she saw me.
“It’s you,” I said, once again finding myself feeling very relaxed and calm by her presence. I don’t know why, but the comfort I get from her presence has always been so peaceful.
I realized at that moment how much I had missed her.
“Where have you been?” I found myself asking her.
She smiled and instead of answering me, she said.
“Can we come in, she asked,” as her eyes sparkled with delight.
My eyes instinctively checked the hallway, wondering who she might have come with. But on checking, there was no one, it was just her.
“We?” I questioned amazed by her use of the pronoun.
“Yes, we,” I heard another voice say.
At that very moment, a middle-aged woman draped in a long white dress gracefully step out of Lucia’s body.
Her hair was white, and very long, and she had defined fine lines that tell one that despite her youthful appearance she has been around, longer than I thought of her.
Her presence was even more overpowering, and the sudden goosebumps that beaded my skin made me lower my eyes out of pure reverence for her.
“Don’t be afraid child,” look up, the woman said and I willingly obeyed her.
“My name is Selene,” the woman was saying and was going to say something else when Lucia interrupted her.
“She is the moon goddess,” Lucia said excitedly, cutting off the woman’s words.
“She is the moon goddess,” Lucia said excitedly, cutting off the woman’s words.
To say I was stunned would be an understatement. My facial expression was nothing compared to the shock my heart felt.
“And this is Lucia, your biological mother,” Selene said in a calm, serene voice.
My gaze instinctively left Selene and landed on Lucia.
At that moment, I watched in total awe as Selene slowly swiped her hand across Lucia’s face. And her face slowly changed into an identical face to mine.
For once, the misery of why I looked the way I was, seemed glaring.
She was so beautiful and thick with a smile that reminds me of myself.
“I don’t understand,” I said, staring at both women in total awe.
“After your mother died, her spirit refused to rest in peace, she was always bothered about you and wanted to be part of you. But as a mere restless spirit, she couldn’t do much, you could only see her and play with her when you were a baby, but all those privileges stopped at that age. At the age you start telling what’s good and bad, most spirits would be happy at this stage and find rest, but not this spirit. Her love for you was so strong that she decided to stay behind to keep watch over you. And when she heard about Lucas Amel’s evil plot against you, she couldn’t sit back. She kept disturbing me with her tears, and I knew I had to help her. And for now, we can say that she has completed her circle and needs to rest, Selene said to me.
My eyes went back to Lucia, or should I say, my mother. And I noticed she was fading off. She was becoming translucent.
“What is happening?” I questioned as I attempted to touch her, but I couldn’t.
My hand just went right through her.
“I love you, Gina, and I am so happy to see the woman you have become. It’s rather painful that I can’t be around you as much as I would have wanted to, but I will always be with you, my beautiful daughter turned Luna,” my mother said with a beautiful smile.
“But I have only just met you,” I said as tears were beginning to blur out my eyes.
“And I will always be with you, I wish I stayed around to see who you would decide to be the new alpha. Although if I am to pick for you, I would say you should go for…” my mum was excitedly saying when Selene hushed her.
“Shhhh…” Selena said, hushing Mother’s words.
“Let her decide what she wants,”
“I honestly don’t know what I want,” I said, wishing they could just help me out of my misery.
“You do, child, you are just not sure about it. But don’t worry, your fate was along decided upon and honestly, I am a little jealous of how bright the stars have fallen in pleasant places for you. And since your mother just made a wish, we will be there at your Luna crowning ceremony,” Selene said.
I was going to say something, but Selene stopped me.
“ Remember this, it is only when you bear the mark of your true mate that you will be able to transform into your true self. It’s time to wake up, child,” she said, swiping her hand across my face.
Almost immediately, I opened my eyes to find myself sleeping on my bed, Derrick and Devon sitting by my side.
